Yeh, but the real fun and games was at the previous CLM when she turned up in distress at the overnight hotel in Rouen in her very nice Dino overheating. Apparently they need TWO fans and one had packed up.

Brendan couldn't help fiddling with her positive and negative.

I believe the couple are no longer an item (Caroline and RS man, not Brendan) obviously

PS

As a chat up line Brendan got off to a bad start by telling her that her Dino badging was incorrect. He never recovered despite buying her several beers and a call to the local Ferrari guru.

The Dino made it home but was later sold (which I believe also belonged to her RS boyfriend) and all Brendan could offer was a mint T.

I put it to you all that you actually like the idea of the colour, but that you wouldn't actually buy one yourself. Why aren't there more of them??

Davep - and anyone else who wants an Olive car - it's not getting sprayed till Tue or Wed next week.......show me your money! It's a '69 T with a '70 E Engine and a '71 915 Gearbox - so not the most original car in the world but definitely very solid.

I'll fill the deadly silence with some pictures of doors being prep'd

Well I have to agree that it does look very different in varying light conditions - on a dull overcast day it can look very drab, but on a sunny day its looks bloody great! I spent ages trying to decide what colour to spray it but am very glad i went for olive. Almost everyone who has seen it seems to love the colour (or are just being polite ). And i like the fact its a rare colour. Of course when i come to sell it i might find out how popular the colour really is!!!

I think opinions change over time.

Chartreuse has been mentioned several times on this thread and elsewhere as 'one of my favourite Porsche colours' and yet back in the day not a single RHD RS was ordered in chartreuse. Maybe it's the same with olive. Not liked back then but loved by many now and hence rare. Or maybe it's just a Continental/British divide. Anyway, it's your car......... and you have to like it and thats what counts.

heres my twopenneth.

If it was a matching numbers totally correct even vaguely rare car with patina, it would be madness to colour change it .. clearly your car isnt that thing, in which case I dont think the value is affected negatively at all. And you should definitely go with your personal choice. The thing with a number of "rare" colours is they do have a coolness for being rare and maybe they look great in californian sunshine or a very bright showroom but in real life in the UK they look quite flat... I very nearly did mine in slate grey and thats the reason I didnt

I didnt go to Essen but I was told that several cars (hot rods, ST reps that kind of thing) were selling for big money which werent even painted in Porsche colours...

its all personal choice but I think the lairy colours suit wide arches. For a std car i'd be considering Aga Blue or Golden Green

i think you hit the nail on the head.. also there's the perception of a colour being "retro" even if it was totally unpopular at the time!

back to the work itself, the doors look fantastic! they certainly appear to be doing a great job.. look forward to seeing the finished product (regardless of colour )

Thanks for all the feedback. You may have picked up by now that this a bit of a cathartic post where I'm expressing some guilt at removing one of the few Olive cars off the road.

Rear bumpers: paintwork faded to primer in places:



Being prepared - there was some surface rust on the inside of the bumpers - they mentioned that the may shot blast them - certainly look cleaned up on the inside now:
