Awesome engine spec

Although I had managed to track down (& tick off) some of the items on my 'wanted' list the number of parts I was still looking for seemed to grow & grow ...

I'd found a nice Les Leston wheel:





- the Porsche badge in the centre isn't correct & was only added for the photos ... I'm on the look-out for an original 356A horn push (ideally with some 'patina') if anyone has one surplus to their needs.

& was quite 'chuffed' to have discovered the origins of the 904/906/908 washer/wiper switch & purchased one at a much more attractive price than the 750 euros being asked by Marco Marinello at Elevenparts in Switzterland !



An excellent pair of suitable used Hella foglamps were procured in Germany (Porsche used a few different models of Hella foglamp on the original cars) which necessitated Barrie modifying the lamp openings on the front of the bodywork as the car from which he took the moulds used the slightly smaller Hella 128's :







The next 'saga' concerns the hunt for wheels ...

He will find as I have that running one of these Cars is Fantastic fun and not to be missed. I attach Pics of my Own 904 M & W Car which was the First one built and which I have enjoyed for some 15 Years. They are by far the best and most Authentic Replica of these great Cars around. All the USA Cars have not attempted to Replicate the Car but have for Economic and Other Reasons produced a very good , and usable, Look-a Like but as Andy says NOT a Replica. If you are going to do something "do it properly". I Co-Authored the Porsche 904 Book shown and would be happy to answer any queries anyone may Have. Also as I noticed someone else likes them I have attached a pic of another Favourite Car I have been lucky enough to own... an Alpeen my Car being a 1300S Gordini Engined Version , what a Go-Kart Fantastic little Car. Fantastic thread, I have to say this is looking way beyond a "replica" the term does not do the craftsmanship/ workmanship and research justice.

I know it's got absolutely nothing to do with me, however can I put forward a vote for a non-silver paint? It would be great to see a car following one of the period race cars, how about Ben Pon's Dutch national coloured orange car?

You need to upload them to a site like photo bucket (free) and then you put an img link to them in your post - if you look on the main page I think there is advice on exactly how to do it. Please have a go because I'd like to see the pics you refer to

Having bumped into this thread last night after a day at a very good Classic Car Show at the NEC my Green shade has tempered but only slightly.
So good to see one coming together.

When i was thinking covered bodies for my Lola hillclimb car, one of these from Barry was on my mind, but it would be too false but so good to look at.(and too narrow to fit the rear track)

I particularly like the engine choice, and this will be very interesting to me as much as all the details to yet unfold.

How do you find real wheels for these cars is beyond me, surly there cant be some in the back of any sheds?

A colour rather than silver opens a can of worms of course!
