Bam! Base coat on and finish line in sight.....


There's still a few tweaks to make but overall the shape is looking good. The silver has come out darker than I expected but I think that's a combination of poor lighting in the shed and lack of any lacquer and polish yet.

Base coat flatted and first coat applied. This was done last week - so its already covered in dust which throws up some funny shadows on the pics - but I'm dead chuffed. Its looking all rather good and not far to go now...



Although the bonnet is now being redone after Si caught the spray gun on the far side right after the first coat of lacquer!

Just a quick plug for my mate Si - all done out of a dusty farm shed on the edge of Devils Dyke - but the level of finish he's achieving is quite something. Cheers.

Quick question: my doors don't have these 'rubber wedges' (http://www.prs356.com/products/door-wed ... ver-rubber). What do these do, where exactly to they fit on the doors (if possible an exact measurement), and I can't see any clues on the inner door post for receiving these on shutting the door (so do they just wedge?). Or should I just ignore them? Thanks.

Look under the Front Wings at the Rear Closing Panel- it `should` (?) have 2 x slotted holes to accept the studs on the Rubber Wedges

The wedges, when fitted, catch the Front Inner Lip on the door and stop it falling shut against your shins

The slotted holes give you some adjustment but you can also pack the wedges out (thin Shims) if they are missing the door edges

At the Bottom-Front of the doors should also be a Round Door Stop that cushions the door when it is Fully open

Todays Quirky Information
Reutter and Porsche Built cars - only have Spring Washers on the Two Front Bolts on Each Door Hinge (8 x Bolts on each side but only 4 x Washers)
Karman Built Cars - only have Spring Washers on the Two Rear Bolts on each Door Hinge
Drauz Built Cars - have spring washers on all Four Bolts of each Hinge

Bolts should be 14mm across Flats and Spring Washers should be of Rectangular Section
The Bolts and Washers are Painted at the same time as the body so it is best to use un-plated bolts (the paint adheres better)
Doors are removed and fitted by use of the hinge pins

Cheers! Yes it has been a trip.... 5 years now I think. Credit to my mate Si who's done all the bodywork and provided mechanical guidance. Top bloke. It is looking beautiful and I'm dead chuffed. I'll get more photos up once I'm back on the road.
