Hi everyone,

I've been following this post with interest as my renewal was due on the 19th June. I've previously had some issues getting insured as I first got my '12 when I was 24, so my age has usually been an issue.

My renewal with AF was priced at £393 - 27 years old, CAT1 alarm/immob, 5000 limited miles, agreed value @ £10K, garaged in centre of T. Wells.

Just called Haggerty, and said I had seen a few recommendations on a forum I belong to - he said 'Oh, is that DDK?' So I guess they have had quite a lot of interest since post started!!

Anyway, have just been quoted on the same terms as above, but car doesn't need to have CAT1 (this is going to be removed soon methinks...) for the grand total of £174!! Very quick service, am impressed so far.

Well done Adam - they are almost unbelievable aren't they! Never thought I'd have a good word to say about Insurers but....

Ok no problem - beats trying to negotiate with the CEO of HBOS for £1/2m in marketing!

+1 for Hagerty. The RS is insured with them. Very impressed by their service and Darren is a real enthusiast. They're based at Silverstone and are a sponsor of the Silverstone Classic.

I've put about 6 or 7 people their way so far, and they always come up with a good price - and underwritten by Allianz.

Shame I'm not on commission.

With the 912 finally back on the road I shopped around & was unable to beat their £157.50 for fully comp, 5,000 miles, £10k agreed value.

Hope I never need to use them though.

Just to buck the trend, both 912 and 914 insured with AON for £260 PA which still includes free track day cover (albeit with a higher excess). They were very helpful and were OK about all the mods to the 914.

Hagerty seem to be doing well out of DDK at the mo!

Thanks to DDK, I just swapped my Chesil insurance over to Hagerty from Adrian Flux (Chaucer was the underwriter).

The Hagerty quote was cheaper for a higher agreed value (£25K - yes, really), had lower excesses, and (MOST IMPORTANTLY) they could offer cover for the Parade Lap at Le Mans which Chaucer refused to do. (10% of annual policy cost per track event).

On the strength of the good words spoken on this thread, i phoned and spoke to Darren. (Knows and likes his cars!)

Have got a quote for £231 incl' legal cover, 3000 mileage limit and £50xs for a policy that covers both my Karmann Ghia and 912 with me and 3 other drivers.

Had i stuck with TR Youngs, all of the above would have cost me more and the excesses would be higher and the mileage allowance lower. So thanks for starting and contributing to this thread everyone that has.

We need to be careful otherwise they will start saying that Allianz have too much exposure at any one event .....

Seriously though, very good service from Hagerty, prompt, reliable and go out of their way to assist. Of course, we will only know exactly HOW good they are when somebody is unfortunate enough to have to make a claim against the policy.

And another here for Hagerty - £228.50 for Charlotte's car including comprehensive European breakdown cover (that bit added £50), 5,000 miles per annum, £200 excess and full track day cover at £18.74 per event. They were even happy with the 'open' garage arrangement we have here

I imagine I'll be adding my 2.4T at renewal for what I am told will only be a small incremental cost - great service and great value too!

Interestingly, the guy I spoke with, Phil, said we could drive any other car covered by this underwriter and vice-versa on a fully comprehensive basis without even needing to notify them and at no additional cost .
