I'll post full details when everything is finished.

Basically Rich (who's been busy developing these) has produced a 2 in 1 out, a 2 in 2 out (as seen on my car above) and now these cheeky little dual mufflers (as seen above).

Rich aka Turbo Thomas is looking to offer these and will of course be working out the financials on them soon once the development is complete. I'll keep you posted and try and get a video when I get the car back (next week sometime)

muffler details

Post by turbo thomas »

hi,

as promised, details of the mufflers are:

all mufflers are made from 304 grade stainless steel and use 'modern' internal materials for silencing etc...

the single outlet and dual outlet will require the removal of the std bracket which the stock muffler straps fit around. both these mufflers have a bracket which uses the bottom bolts from the engine mount for additional support...

all systems come in 2 finishes, polished and 'treated'. the treated mufflers will have a silver finish, but must add it isnt paint, its treated!! there will be no extra cost for either finish...

the single outlet and dual outlet will have polished tailpipes regardless of finish, unless im asked to treat these too...

tailpipe sizes will be 60mm for the single outlet and 54mm for the dual outlet. again, the above options apply...

the muffler body is made from 6" dia tube, and flanges will be 8mm s/s.

the dual round mufflers are made using a 4" dia case, with 54mm internals and 54mm tailpipes. again, different bores and tailpipe sizes can be used. although you may get an asbo with anything bigger than the 54mm!!! the mufflers in the pics on the bumble bee are 10" long and approx 14/15" long in total. i can make these shorter if needed but the above (asbo) tip applies!! they will also come with the fixing bracket as shown in the pics... this attaches to the bottom 2 engine mount bolts and will attach to the mufflers with 4 bike can style straps, 2 either side...

sound (based on what will be the stock spec)

single outlet is deep and aggressive without losing the flat 6 sound.

dual outlet, again, deep and aggressive, probably more aggesssive sounding than the single outlet. sounds more like a race car than the single outlet.

dual 4", deeper than the above and louder throughout the rev range, obviously!!

none of the above will need ear defenders though...

price (based on stock internal spec)

single outlet £330

dual outlet £370

dual 4" £250

i hope this is enough info.

i would just like to say a big thankyou to thomas for loaning me the car to get these mufflers in motion...

cheers

rich

4 into 1 for the 356/912 is that the same as the Bursch type?

Seeing as I have just replaced the tail pipe only on the '1,2 not the silencer just the pipe. I'm £150 lighter

A sebring would be nice for the 356 but I just cant justify the cost (other bits need doing first)

£150 for a tailpipe?!! jeeez, im in the wrong business!!!

ive made a couple of sebring style systems for t4 powered 550's, and made a jig for the muffler section, fabbing the header part on the car wont be a problem... i may look into putting this style in production...

the headers i have here are similar in design to a vw style header, not the Bursch

cheers
