Luck and fate

Wotcher.
I'm saddened to say that on the toss of a coin it has been decided in the MdR household that we're not gonna make this Northern jaunt as we'll be in France with the Ghia. Bum.
I wish we could be in both places at once but, well, you just can't. Strangely we'll have less travelling to get there...

bjmullan wrote:Well the response has been outstanding! A total of 29 cars have registered an interest and now it's time to confirm your place.

We will be staying at the Loch Tay Highland Lodges which is located just outside the village of Killin in Perthshire which is an ideal base for our Scottish Tour. We plan to meet-up somewhere near the M74 on the Friday afternoon/evening and travel the last section to the lodges in convoy. We will then stay at the lodges for a total of three nights. The routes will be published nearer the time of the tour.

I have booked a total of 9 six berth lodges which are all located together on the beautiful site. The plan is to have 1 couple and 2 singles per lodge, although there maybe a need to share the twin rooms if the numbers increase. Earlier bookers will be guaranteed a room on their own! So what I need from you now is a £25 non-returnable deposit for each person. I will send a pm’s to all parties that have noted an interest in the initial thread with payment details. Please PM me if you wish to pay via PayPal, there will be an additional £1.12 charge per person for using PayPal.

The list below will be used to show who has paid their deposit and also whether they are bringing their partner. If you plan to bring your partner and it's not noted below let me know. The total price for the hire is £2950 and the price that each person pays will be based on the final numbers but it should work out at less the £30 pppn.

It is also planned that dinner and breakfast will be provided by the on-site restaurant. Prices to be confirmed at a later date but it likely to be £18.50 for dinner and £6.95 for breakfast.

See you all in the Spring in Scotland 8)

is this event fully booked now?

UPDATE!! right spoke with JO and it looks like we have the thumbs up..

is there any more room.. for another 2 .I have even been given the go ahead to spend some money on the engine rebuild to get it going quicker.. cos from down here to up there...it's a long way.. I think we would be one of the longest traveled on the weekend..

let me know, I have my bearings for the engine case now and I also have ordered the cam so it's a case of getting stuff balanced and drilling the new oil cooler and a test fit assembly in Jan... For a Feb fire up and run in.

Cool... Convoy sounds great... I think we might go alittle further in one day, lets see how it works out but great thanks for the offer.. might take you up on that.

I was thinking I could get to north Stoke on trent and then take a second run the next day.. I have driven to Scotland before in a day in the lorry..

never for get that..... I took the lorry up to Glasgow started at 4 am it was when the storms where on and we seamed to be driving just in the middle of the two storms... so when we were driving we would see the odd half a tree in the road!!!! and lucky no one was about.. move round it quick and then we got there about 10.30 in the morning!!!!! which was the best run I have ever had in the UK shocked the seller as they thought we would be there for 3pm!!!

So that is when we bought the speedster...stopped over night on one of the locks and drove back the next day ..... and in Scotland the motorway was empty and we were driving along and we could hear a horn going and we thought that was odd... it was only a mate of ours in his VAN !!!!! 400 miles away from our local area !!!   how odd was that!!!!! the only other vehical was a Fareham van!!!

scottish gathering

Post by al914 »

Don't know how I missed this but you have managed to pick the only weekend out of the year we have a worthwhile show - the scottish VW show in Biggar!!! :( , I live 40 mins from Killin and I am about to start biulding 3 houses there, unfortunatly they wont be ready.

If you guys need any info on where to go let me know, will have to try and get up to see all your amazin cars, may even get the '14 out!
