.my etype was originally old English White before being sprayed black in the early 80's...not sure if the White suits them as much as it does the early 911's

Spent an enjoyable afternoon at Redtek Engineering watching the second stage of my engine rebuild….



Seeing my initials written the rods was cool, wonder how long they'll last….



Lots of love going into this ...



An exciting process albeit a little slow - Nick likes to just check, check and check again ...



The magic number although this one's staying stock …



Starting to look like an engine now …



I'm loving this stage of the restoration and really enjoying watching the work Nick Fulljames is putting into the engine, he could do this stuff blindfold although he clearly enjoys his work!

Even on a boring old stock '2.4E' engine!

The plan is to have the engine finished, installed and running before Christmas with interior and other items sorted by early Spring. Getting excited about my first drive now.

As I've mentioned elsewhere I have never actually driven an early 911, I've had offers to try cars although have opted to wait.

I've decided to leave the shakedown and setting up to others and want it 100% finished so that my first drive will be just as if I was collecting the car from a Porsche showroom back in 1973.

To make my first drive a proper event I've been in touch with Ian Jones, the cars first UK owner and arranged a visit. On page three of this thread ( http://www.ddk-online.com/phpBB2/viewto ... 6&start=30 ) I posted the response I'd had from Ian who kindly got in touch and told me all about how he'd acquired the car back in 1984.

So my 'first drive' in an early 911 will be taking my thoroughly restored and sorted 2.4E back to show the chap who, nearly 30 years ago, was the first UK owner! - Magic!

BTW - I knows it's a bit soppy!

…..I'm told green is quite a rare colour around here and a change of the usual red shrouds...



….cams going back in where they should remain for the next 100K miles …



….the usual chain tensioner upgrade….



…much of the afternoon was spent watching Nick measuring and checking, measuring and checking, measuring and …...



One of Nicks modifications is oil seals he manufactures for the rockers shafts which help eliminate oil leaks. He sells these in kit form…



Setting up of the cams; I already knew what TDC meant - I learnt this from watching 'My Cousin Vinny'



One of the joys of having Redtek rebuild my engine has been being able to visit and watch the process and knowing exactly what has been done…



Well we're nearly at the end of this stage. Another week or so and the engine will be ready to go back into the car…..



Can't wait!

I actually told him I thought his work was amazing and was flabbergasted that his memory was so good he didn't have to refer to a Haynes manual ……

Crikey, that all looks brilliant. So exiting at this stage. Having reviewed the thread I recognise the car from Alans looked lovely over there as a bare shell. I love your drive it from new plan...soppy or not...
