A journey that started with a failed MOT with the need for rotten torsion tube replacement, had the engine and rear suspension pulled out at my local specialist, and the body transported to a local metal worker... finding good metal to weld to was a challenge and one thing led to another... the job grew and time passed. Some years the stripped shell was resprayed back to the original grey, engine rebuilt, and the car drove for the first time... onto a transporter to be driven from Kent to Surrey

So starts the next chapter, nestled in a new home, sitting with many other SWB cars rather than modern models. There is a reasonable body of work that needs to be done still and some previously well intended work ‘tweaked’ ... just look at that ride height!

I have been keen to get a nice stereo in the car , as dash speaker is also blown, so I have cut the original pressed speaker chassis to hold two modern speakers JL audio C2s.
The head unit is out of sight in the glove box, and in addition to the dash speakers, also wired to the doors JL C3s ( there were already holes in the Door cards ) and nicely out of sight will hide an underseat subwoofer
The Sony head unit is remotely controlled via iPhone

Through the many moves during the restoration I have lost track of a handful of parts, and many thanks to the help from friends on this forum I sourcing replacements. One loss along the way was a strip of black elephant hide vinyl that attached under the ashtray.
Here I sourced from eBay some amplifier vinyl, not quite as heavily grained but a good match to the missing vinyl.
I had planned to use the same vinyl in red to replace the worn out panels on the original seats but the fix required for these seats require repairs to the frames and recliner, so I decided to order replica sports seats from Deser.
I order some extra leather to enable the rear seats and interior trim panels to be recovered in colour matched leather.
With the fantastic work here performed by Garry at ClassicFX
