I think a lot of that era of car are mis reported by those who have never lived with them.

The car's predecessors were great (MG 1100's, 1300 GT etc).
The Morris 1800 was a great car, took me and 3 mates to the Munich Olympic games no less, my first trip out of the UK.
That WAS a long time ago!

I had one of these in the 1970's, it was a great little car except for the tendency to snap exhaust manifolds. I think late ones had an engine stabilising bar.

My father had an MG version as a company car after his A60, what a difference.
The MG was great.
Rare to see many of these ADO cars now.

One of the English teachers at school had an MG 1300, which was cool. Not quite so cool is that he had traded in a Lotus Cortina Mk1 for it... The MG didn't last too long as in a gale a tree fell on it, crushing the MG and three more cars belonging to other teachers. The only car to survive being totally flattened was the VW Beetle belonging to another English master...

What a thing!

It’s sad that the childhood dreams of building such things die before you’re a grown up and actually could.

When you 'grow-up' there are all the chances in the world to do those lost dreams of childhood.
