Quite a bit done this week, some electrics started by fitting up for H4's, still some wires need extending to indicators/sides/fogs and horns, previous owner just chopped them off.... Wiring is pretty poor in most places, so will take time to sort. Small parts also fitted to headliner, and waiting for trim parts to arrive before fitting rear side windows. Drivers door frame trial fitted with window mechanism. Both front hubs removed and rebuilt with shorter wheel bolts down from 70mm to a more acceptable 50mm, bearings all looked good, so new disc's and pads and the orignal now refurbished calipers....

Looking good!

Let me know when you need help with glass install. Took three of us to put my quarter glass in due to using brand new seals. That was a '78 though and I think maybe the earlier opening rear quarters are easier put in??

Thanks Al, rear quarters are done and doing a few other bits, new brake caliper fitted this evening and tidying up trim here and there, will give you a shout next week and we'll pop in the front and rear glass......

First update for a while, summer then back to work, you know.....

Headlining sorted, A and B pillars covered, door seals fitted, 2/3rds of the RS style carpet set fitted (supplied by Garry, thx) period style roll cage that was modified to accept harness shoulder straps bolted in place, rear glass fitted. Demister tubes, orange foam tubes, engine sound pad and flapper boxes all fitted. Rear wiring loom stripped back, repaired where needed and re-heatshrinked from tranmission tunnel area through to oil tank level sender.

Recovered dash refitted, recovered some parts of the basket weave dash, and knee pad just set in place - still some work to do dash/trim/knee pad as not 100% happy with fit. Both door frames and drop glass fitted.

Next on the list is to finish off fitting door cards, window scrapers and door bright work, fiddle with the dash and get the front windscreen in. Continue with a ton of wiring. Once I've that done that then I need to sort the rear suspension and brakes, fuel tank and lines and then we'll be ready to put the engine and transmission back in.

Pleased at the work todate - car is coming on pretty much as I want and as usual plenty of silly sangs to keep me frustrated....... Just wish I had more time to spend on the car.

I was at a Porsche Club Ireland track day in another 911 so pushed the car out to get the other 911 out and got the first proper pics of the car with my "brake dust grey" Fuchs - pretty happy with the colour.

John, thanks for being the observant one, Porsche 911's are one thing, but only part of the bigger picture.......The Airstream rocks. Just checked up and we've done 17k miles in this beauty in the past 6 years.

I had a weekend off but back at it tonight. Trying to do 30mins per night on the windscreen. It's got plently of scratches, some that won't come out but I'm slowing cutting through the marks left by the windscreen wipers. The car didn't come with any front screen but I had a period (66) front that came out of another donor so keen to use early parts where I can. The side, rear and drop glass are all original to the car as far as I can tell.

Finished off the rear carpet set including the kickboard and rear seat area, also fitted the door threshold trim.
