.... also well known as the uglier and less popular of the 2 sisters
only joking Paul ... it's a fine looking car and one I'd love to have in the garage.

I have never really understood why people think they can improve road cars by uprating components, etc. I always have faith in the multi billion dollar (millions in the '70s?) car companies' development & research programs.
Really glad to hear the car is driving as you'd hoped, Paul. Even better than you had expected by the sound of things.
Those Early911.co.uk chaps would appear to have raised their bar higher still with this restoration. Good work all.

Any pics of the vintage hot rod racing Paul?

Back in 1990 when I first went to Bob Watson's place he had a blue 73 RS Touring and I wanted to 'hillclimb spec' my 73 T suspension.
Then he said that for my purposes the Porsche rubber bushes were up to the task with ease, and the RS proved that.
I didn't listen to that and poly bushed the lot out.
Back to rubber in the front about 5 years ago and notice no difference.

So new rubber felt no different to 20 year old poly bushes?
To be honest I think many go poly bushes for ease of fitting and cost (myself included), if there is improvement over standard then that's just a bonus but I image most would be swapping out tired (20+ yr) old rubber so there should be a noticeable difference.
Also remember there has been alot of technological advances in materials since the 70s.
The car does look splendid

True, and I apologise.
But it's an IB with claim to association to the mighty RS.
I've fought hard to not align this car with the earlier top of the range model and yet....
As I drove the car and became amazed by it's performance I wondered if it was due to the thorough restoration or something else?
Then it dawned on me that much of the excellence is down to the equal specification to the 1973 RS.
I will concede that on my car those famous two letters are not in the badging but cast your mind back to the very first page of this thread.....
