Thanks for your help Will in trying to help me get my hands on a round knob.
That is a nice knob but sadly the wrong type of knob.
The knob I need is round but it has two grooves top and bottom to allow it to locate easily in the vertical escutcheon. The simpler version you've found is not quite correct.
I keep seeing VW seats on eBay with the correct button but I'm not paying £30, £40 or £50 for a seat (that invariably needs collecting from the other end of the country) only to discard the seat and keep just the knob.
The correct part is now NLA. A breakers yard is the best bet and I've got another lead to a source. I hope to get one soon. :)

damn! there i was thinking i'd assisted you in getting your hands on the knob you'd been hankering after.
Now that I realise how rare and valuable both of my own knobs are I will handle them with further care in the future.
Might it not be possible to in someway modify the advertised knobs so that they would fit and function to the correct specification for the knobs that are required?

It is Russ, I was looking for a few pics of it online as it's a car that I used to love seeing at Custom Shows. I then stumbled across a snow washed denim clad KS

It was about that time I had the '57 Chevy pickup and my '68 Charger . I remember doing the indoor shows such as Doncaster and Birmingham . There was always an air of inevitability when it came to the trophy for the best Rod  .
I've got loads of photos from then , must get them scanned and post a few .

I've got a load of shots from the Birmingham shows somewhere. There was the Cousins 34 and was it the Rutherford 32 around at the same time and between them they cleared up everything?

Wasn't it about that time the "Rubellion" Austin Ruby made an appearance in it's second or third guise ?

I wonder just how many ex/current Street Rodders are on this forum?

I started with my Y Type ford in 1974 and then to a Model A Tudor which never made the road, being sold in 1987 to some guys in Surrey and I bought my 911.

My early years was with a whole raft of the first UK hot rodders, but locally it was Spatts Wilkinson and his Y and then B Tudor that took award after award against Mike Key's B.

I too have many photo albums full of the rod runs and things.

Such happy days even with rosy glasses accounted for.
Terrible itch to sell the Lola and buy a Rod again....

The Y type is in the USA and the A still in the UK with a tubbed rear end.... :(

The Rutherfords' car was a ’33 (I called it a ’34 in the mag and miffed them off, even though it was a '34 Corner bodyshell...).

I loved being part of the rodding scene back in the mid-1970s with Surrey Street Rodders, and then with Hot Car, followed by Custom Car. Feel honoured to have been around back then... I got to see/drive many great rods.

Ed Wimble os on Facebook, by the way.
