It was a beautiful sunny day not really one to be stuck in the garage but I do have a car to build.... I spent some time cavity waxing the A,B and C pillars as well as the insides of the doors. I want to get the glass in the car but need to first fit the headlining hence waxing the pillar areas. Also started on the sound deadening - I've seen many cars with 100% panel coverage and read that only 50% is needed - I'm probably going to cover 60%. Rear shelf, inner panels and rear seats done so off to the pub for pints and food as due reward.....

Today I fitted and finished as much of the sound deadening as I think I need, can add more at a later date if needs be. Also started to trial fit the second layer which is called Dodo Sound Stopper Lite and I'm hoping that if I just do the parcel shelf, and maybe the rear seat areas that I'll reduce some of the engine noise. I'm going to fit a "RS" style carpet set made by Garry (FX), so the sound stopper will help smooth out some of the lumps and bumps and make the interior more presentable - time will tell.....

Fitted Silent Coat Sound Absorber to the roof skin before trial fitting the headliner, the orignal Porsche sound deadening is NLA and this stuff looks to be the modern equivalent, quite happy with it, and it is needed to assit the roof bows staying vertical, so now the struggle with getting the roof bows in place - a real PITA job.

Not easy getting progress through the week with work getting in the way, so this week I've fiddled about with some wiring, also refurbishing door handles and latches etc, but nothing to a finish but progress nonetheless and hopefully a bit of a push over the weekend with some on the to-do list completed.

Good progress over the weekend, headliner fitted to the front and now letting the adhesive harden before doing the mid section, door striker plates also fitted, locks fitted, handles fitted, side view mirror fitted - all checked and working as should be. Also some brightwork fitted to keep my awl mate MikeB happy as he's fed up looking at pics of sound deadening...

All parts, other than the headliner, are the original parts from the car and show signs of wear, however new seals are being used for obvious reasons.

Non Sunroof headliners are considerably trickier than previous sunroof ones I've fitted. Didn't help that the new genuine Porsche headliner bows do-not-fit, meaning a waste of a morning followed by cleaning and painting the originals, however headliner 90% fitted, still a few wrinkles to get out, finish off at the C pillar and trim off. Next on the list is fitting some of the sound barrier and rear carpets, trim off A & B pillars and get some of the glass in.

Just need to fit interior courtesy lights to the headliner, and I've fitted A and B pillars on drivers side using vinyl recycled from the parcel shelf on my 74 Carrera when I redid the whole interior with new black vinyl. What little black vinyl there was in the 74 didn't match the new vinyl so had to replace all of it but I kept the old vinyl knowing it would come in useful another day. I've already used some of this 74 vinyl to cover the door and rear panel caps and have just enough left to do the A & B pillars. The vinyl is a little worn but looks fab and the same as Porsche used in 67. Off for a few day with the Bank Holiday coming up so back on it next Tuesday.
