I had one of those - a model that many said didn't exist ... an original RHD car with solid buttresses.

The car is reasonably solid, rear subframe is cracked. The engine is a real gem.

yeah pretty much anything would be quicker
the tt was a 225bhp one, so should have been quite quick, but bugger me was it hard work to get it to go!

it is a 130i.. they only do the 135i in a coupe, but to be honest 265bhp is enough for her first RWD car. having driven it for 10mins last night, whoever put THAT engine in a small rear wheel drive hatchback needs a medal! i really want a go in the Hartge 1-series now, which has the e60 m5 v10 engine

we did think about a 123d, but she doesn't really do the miles to justify a diesel (taking the higher fuel and servicing prices into account) and i'm a bit scared by the cost of fixing them if something goes wrong.. 6x injectors, 2x turbos, 2x DPF's..

I'm currently looking at 130i's myself . We used to have a '58plate 120d & that was & wifes favorite ever car she's had. She does about 15K miles a year so trying to work out if the potential repair cost savings of the petrol over diesel stack up against the difference in fuel costs. 130's are cheaper to buy too. Will be interesting to hear your real world economy
