..you should stick this in a huge Concours d'Elegance and come away with silverware.
Thanks for the compliments Sean, sadly I’m not one for Concours – I had experience of that as a young man and it scarred me for life – there will be no silverware.
I appreciate the car will never retain it’s perfect state once it’s driven but I prefer to consider that once it’s dirty I can then forget about it and carry on. Much like the relief attained when you first kerb the rim on your expensive brand new car. No further scrapes or scratches seem to matter so much after the first damage is done.
And it’s true, the road trips, track days and experiences gained in using the car far outweigh the small amount of tarnish collected in use.
Don't worry, it will get well used, in all kinds of weather, through all the seasons.

Well that’s a bold statement and one I won’t lay claim to. Ryan in Oregon is currently restoring a Carrera to a very high standard, I think he’ll better me.
He reckons mine will be the best but he’s just being polite. Take a look here for some detail on the build, it’s superb.

And take care to bookmark his blog, it’s the finest reference for anything ‘Carrera’.

I'll put a set of winter tyres on it for you then. It may even be ready for the first snow of the New Year.

Yes, the pace of the thread might have slowed a little. Probably the decline matches the decline in my bank balance.
So, things may go quiet for a while – but you’ll be enjoying the festive break anyway.
I’ll admit I told Nick I’m happy for him to concentrate on some of the other cars he’s working on whilst I recover a little from the financial burden.
It’s costing plenty to do the restoration so well and it’s not easy paying for it all.
Plus I’m awaiting some more headliner fabric and the carpets so that will give Nick the excuse to devote his attentions to his other customers.
I delayed ordering the carpet set but I’ve now got that order in so once they have been manufactured things will pick up speed again.

Nick has finished all the brakes and got the tyres fitted and the wheels are on the car.
Now it’s rolling it frees up the ramp and re-assembly can continue a bit closer to the ground.

Looks great Paul and a very good colour choice, suits it perfectly, green really sets off the black. Very striking.

The Finns have a phrase for this - Ei paskempi.
It means "not shitty"....but in a very Finnish understated "OMG this is effing amazing" kind of a way.
We could also say that this build is vitun hyvaa. But that would get me excluded from most saunas.
Nice job Paul....it looks fab

And I feel your bank balance pain. It hurts. It really does....

I've now got the carpet set and any other bits I was missing so I'm going to deliver those interior trim parts down to Early911 later this week.
I'll still be waiting for Nick to clear a few other cars from his workshop but hopefully work can commence again within a couple of weeks.
