Sorry for the inevitable duplication (all of the cars with mountain shots start looking very similar after a while ....) but here are a few more shots from my phone. There are loads more on the camera!

Day 1



I didn't know the Grand Canyon was in the Alps

We had all the seasons on our trip from warm sunny weather to serious fog and snow!





We also had a bit of fun with the locals when in Italy ..... watching them trying to get the Lambos around the tighter hairpins was amusing!



Lots of good pit stops for refuelling (us and the cars)

Just like any other Mongrel, Darren's occasionally had to take a P when next to a wall!



The view wasn't always spectacular



But it was mostly pretty damn good





Darren kindly brought some of his favourite T shirts for the trip, this one especially for me

And then there were the roads - mile after mile of superb driving in every direction, mostly free of traffic and usually followed by some good food. The company wasn't bad either - great cars, friends, food and roads!

fantastic. I will be doing that one day. Is there any kind of route map you have?

I don't have a picture of the route map on me but will post later. We basically went Dover - Dijon - Courmayeur - Andermatt - Bormio - Andermatt - Dijon - Dover. I've driven in that area a few times but never done all the great passes in one trip and quite so fast. I basically picked what I thought were the best passes and linked them up to get the route. Had a rough plan when leaving and made adjustments on the way as needed. Key thing is to figure out how long you want to be driving each day and where that will get you. I am sure there are many more good roads if you have time. I've also been to the Dolomites and it is every bit as good, but a bit further. I wish we took more time to appreciate the surrounding - more food and coffee breaks would have been great. The stops we had were great fun, exchanging notes, banter and the food was really good.

September is a good time to go as all the passes are open, holiday season is over and the roads are generally quiet. We did pretty well with traffic I think and it rarely held us up for more than a few minutes. Weather can be hit and miss - we had to turn around on the Furka pass one evening due to snow and the next morning it was dry, bright and sunny and some of the best driving all trip.

Day 1 - Calais to Dijon.....only one problem with the Alps and that's they're so far away!.....

.....7:50 Tunnel and then a five and a half hour slog down to Dijon.....

....learnt an iPhone isn't awake at 4:30 in the morning!...



...weather started well and was generally pretty kind the whole trip...





...reserved parking at the Dijon hotel...



....not only did Feroz arrange the trip, hotels and routes, he also booked some top class restaurants...cheers Feroz ....France is no place for vegetarians!.....

Day 2 - Dijon to Courmayeur..... Jura Mountains - Aravis - Petit Saint Bernard .... and a taste of what was to come!....

....after we passed a large gathering of classics the Talbot kept pace and chased us all the way down the mountain ....







...as well as the glorious roads the other thing in abundance around this part of the world is tunnels! ....
