Talking of paint.... A few more of the white undercoat.














Imagine my surprise when my painter mailed me these Yellow one's today. He calls it, " the Yellow detail guide coat "



















It will be a few weeks before everything is in final paint which means i will have to wait a while to view it in person.

The next detail will be the satin black to the front and rear bumpers. There is also a black band that is painted to the sill which follows onto the base of the front and rear quarters. Finding a suitable period photo showing the sheen of the Black on the original Gaban ST car was tough...... Managed it in the end though.

Great colour. It's very interesting what you have done with paint Dave because I thought long and hard about this with the targa. You might be interested to know what I eventually decided to do but I am so far back on my thread it will be a while yet. Different yellow to yours but she is in paint now using a slightly different route to yours.

In that booth the word that comes to mind for yours is 'citrus'. Lovely.

That's interesting........from experience light yellow is a real bitch to match with a small repair we did becoming painting half a car and very difficult to blend......

Mike, it is interesting how the colour looks different from one photo to the next. I am sure it will look completely different once it's outside. I look forward to reading your paint approach on your Targa build. I think mine is a different animal in regards to seam sealers and underseal etc.

Thanks for looking out for the part. I am informed that Chris at Fennlane has found my quadrant... Now if only he could find my air bucket clips and steel air horns.

Had a peek at your shell today. The photographs do not do the colour justice. It looks fabulous: a rich deep, powerful colour with lots of "zing" to it as well. I can see why it was popular in period. At the moment it is easy to see the excellent contrast between the Hellgelb (3 L's thank you to those who contributed to my education on spelling this correctly ) and the silk black interior. This gives an idea of how this contrast will work with the silk black bumpers and sill line. The interior paint is so good it is almost a pity it is going to be covered with carpet.

Garry,
Dave is going for the period Indian restaurant look on the inside with red flock wall paper. Apparently it is cheaper than B&Q wood chip and being red makes the car faster. Sorry to disappoint.
