In a weak moment I added up all of the receipts of my spend to date.

Mike (210hp) has already asked why I would do such a foolish thing and Jameslipman rightly pointed out he drives a $7000 car, what more do I need to know.

If only I had paused, taken a deep breath and left the files in the drawer.

The only thing for it, is to simply block it from my mind and pretend it never happened. Good mental training, all part of the process.

Also if you didn't know the number, your best beloved couldn't torture you until you disclosed it. Too late now.
What about the car though, Tom? Show us the car!
Cheers, Richard.

Original 7x15 Fuchs dated 7/72. Thanks Mike (210HP)

I know these aren't correct for the car, not overly bothered. I have the original wheels, just think these will look spectacular.

Thats the first rule of fight club that is - burn all evidence and leave the car to your best mate in your will as he knows the true worth.

Flat 6 x 15. Still beautiful but I like the slightly deeper dish on these. I hope it works when the car is finished.

Looking for some technical assistance with this one in terms of originality. I was fortunate enough to be able to take some reference pictures of a 72 Gemini with blue interior and madras, the same spec as mine. The question I have relates to the rear parcel shelf, on the car I photographed the rear shelf was blue leatherette. Looking at other cars, I don't think this is correct and think it should be black like the dash and door caps.

The following car was one that I considered around the same time as buying my E but chose the rebuild route. Still love this, especially the interior. In the pictures you can see the black parcel shelf.

Is someone able to confirm the colour the rear parcel shelf should be in a 1973 blue leatherette car?

Thanks

The Irish Green car is spectacular. I seem to remember the seller had two lovely cars, the other was a safety colour? Possibly signal orange? (Or was it light ivory?) I remember they were photographed together on that forecourt and they were both top drawer examples. $200k each or more?

Can’t help with the rear shelf colour as I’ve never seen a blue interior in the flesh. Before Alan popped up I was going to say black since all the one’s I’ve seen (no matter what the interior colour) were black. However, Alan’s real experience is the opinion to go with. Let’s hope a definitive photo turns up although it’s not often someone takes a snap of the rear shelf.

Regards
Mike

Rich,

Thanks. I can’t see the picture, photo bucket and there change in policy has ruined many of the threads on this site. So many good pictures no longer accessible.

It’s a difficult one this, I have seen so many different variants. 74 cars with brown dash and then a brown parcel shelf, other pre 73 cars with coloured interiors there seems to be a combination of self coloured and black. It might come down to personal preference for me in the end if I can’t get a definitive answer.

Minor update, after much debate and assistance from Mike (210HP) I have managed to settle on the paint type and colour of Gemini Blue. Various card have been sprayed out and Mike was kind enough to act as a go between to an original car allowing for samples to be compared against a original panel.

I stopped into my restorer today to pass on the good news and discuss the next stage, its that long since I have look at the car / build that I need to refresh myself on stonechip lines and coverage, seam seals and internal paint finishes. I really don't want to make any mistakes and try and be as true to the original look as possible.

Snapped some pictures while I was in. My own car has a blue undercoat but was stunned by the lovely 356 they have in at the moment. I will be stopping in next week late one night to take some proper pictures.
