HI Mike
the No9 car has the front callipers removed, the gearbox out and there is a new oil return pipe on top of the engine which is a Std oil pipe and not a RSR type.

Thanks Mike, rumour has it that the factory are taking it to the Targa Florio Classic later this year,
along with the privately owned 1973 race winning number 8 car.
cheers, Mike.

It was in the prep area adjacent to the Museum. That pic is through the glass - not an area you can go in and there was no work taking place while we were there.

Hi Dougie, so as not to hijack this great thread anymore I've transferred the Martini no 9 exchange and the answers to your question
over to My Project thread in Restorations, gives me an excuse to resurrect it in preparation for Sicily later this year, hope you don't mind.
cheers, Mike.

As this thread slowly winds down and the pictures and tales draw to a close I thought I'd just update those who weren't on the tour regarding the latest recipient of 'The Spirit of DDK'

As some of you know I give this award out to esteemed members who personify just what makes DDK, DDK

Previous recipients were Bert for being Bert, Barry for lending a helping hand to members forlorn cars & his countless threads of advice and James (Hot66) for pioneering some the early DDK tours and continuing to initiate and help with the organisation of current and hopefully future ones.

This time around it was a little different.

Anybody who met Ian Smith (Ims101) in the couple of years he got involved with DDK would probably agree with me that his smile and general persona was infectious. I was privileged to share a few drinks and chats with Ian and although wasn't as close as some other members I considered him a good mate and somebody I always looked forward to seeing at gatherings.

I was gutted when I heard the news of his passing and I know many other members who felt the same. We missed him in Germany and remembered him fondly raising a glass or two in his memory.

So the fourth 'The Spirit of DDK' is a posthumous one and goes to Ian, hope you're listening buddy. We miss that smile of yours.
