Hi 904 GTS, any news on prices / availability on the Coupe as per my post on the 25th. Jan?

I'd rather deal with someone in the UK if possible.

In response to a direct enquiry I had from "Outlaw Fanatic"- after, it seems that he has had no response to his request for information on the M&W Coupe.

We have made enquiries with one of our business partners in Mexico who DO in fact manufacture such a beast.

It is taken from a "Real Shape" Coupe, rather than adding a roof to a Speedster. We have no intention of manufacturing this version ourselves as we are extremely busy with developing our own range of cars.

However, IF there is enough interest we would be happy to import these models directly for interested customers.

The break even point is 4 kits per shipment, and preliminary discussions indicate that the kits (very comprehensive) would be competitively priced landed on UK soil with all duties and taxes paid. OUR criteria to act as agents for this deal is a firm order for THREE kits - we will build the 4th. for ourselves.

The manufacturing company is a well respected Mexican Replicator with many hundreds of sales to their credit. We are in a position to undertake this business liaison as we will be supplying one of our range back to South America for sales there.

If there is sufficient GENUINE interest, then we will take the discussions to the next level with our Mexican friends.

Those currently building Speedsters (of whatever origin) will be interested to know that we are now in the throes of manufacturing a range of "essentials" - Windscreen frames, Windscreens, Posts, and soon to be added engine lid grills, sill/bumper deco strips. Those who have struggled for accessories, windscreen frames in particular, over the past 5 years or so will appreciate that!

We are also experimenting with the now installed (Germany) sprayed alluminium process. Initially it was installed to produce the newly developed alloy skinned bodyshell range - officially known as "Alloy Epoxy Hybrid" [ AEH ]. These require special heat resistant epoxy moulds as the alloy is sprayed in a molten state (ie HOT!) into the mould, and then backed again with an aircraft grade epoxy. This produces a GENUINE alloy skin about .5 mm thick, which looks like a complete alloy body and can be polished the same. Of course this is more expensive than normal GRP, but it does give the impression of an alloy body at a fraction of the cost.

This process would seem to lend itself to the manufacture of smaller accessories such as Bumper overiders, number plate lamps, etc.

It would be impossible to consider this process solely for small parts as the capital investment for the Spray plant is considerable, but is now worthy of consideration as it's already there! This should in turn mean cheaper accessories.Whoopee! The experiment is ongoing, we'll keep you posted.

So, Outlaw Fanatic and others - there's the opportunity, if you ARE genuinely interested.

Like Stevie i've been waiting a reply about the m and w moulds, but now i've seen the bit about the Mexican coupes I'll check that out with Martin at Classic Roadsters. Need to know some prices and i guess theres only 2 of us interested at the moment. With all the interest in Outlaw cars at the moment thought there would be more interest in a replica.

I didn't intend this as a criticism of yourself, its just my personal viewpoint on using discussion forums commercially for more than a quick I can supply or see my website type of response, which is why I've started to support the forum with a banner ad.

i've been following the "Coupe" debate quite closely as whatever model I eventually go for will have to be fitted with a hard top, or maybe even a Coupe. Also the white 'Outlaw' car looks absolutely stunning. However, I am not sure what an 'Outlaw' is or where the term comes from. I know what I 'like' but sometimes get a bit lost by the 'jargon' - help!

I work in London and commute by car and although I'm one of the fortunates that have an allocated car space it is on the road and open to vandalism or being stolen. That's the reason i am considering a Soft Top but (if possible) a hard top option, or NOW maybe a Coupe (with a sunroof please!!) I had not thought of a Coupe before - although I know Porsche did one, I hadnt seen one (a quality one that is) in the replica information so I assumed that they werent avaiable...... I DID see one at a show in the Midlands many years ago (Green as I recall) but there was something about it that didnt quite have the right feeling - maybe it was just the colour but it looks very slightly out of proportion? Anyone else ever see it? Was it just my imagination?

i currently drive a Figaro and I've had to have the soft top repaired twice now due to vandalism or attempted theft. My insurance company has said that they will not cover this kind of claim anymore although they're quite happy to take my premium for the past 6 years, and I lost my 5 years ncb after the last claim.

On a separate note. I understand what 904GTS is saying about commercialism, but don't we have stories about manufacturers in the Fanzine?

Even though I tend to look at things from a female perspetctive, I personally find it very interesting to read about what is going on in the world of replicas as I can't afford the real thing. I find that the various postings are actually interesting - especially now that some manufacturers are very difficult to track down. I am not supporting overt 'sales' but details of whats available and what is out there is, I find, very helpful.

I made a list last year of the manufacturers that I wanted info from - Pilgrim. Banham, Chesil, Speedster Clinic , Classic Roadsters, M&W and a couple of others who diisappeared or couldn't be contacted before I was ready to begin my research. I can say that I only got satisfactory information about three - Chesil, Classic Roadsters and M&W. I also contacted several USA based companies but didn't have a reply from any one of them! Maybe they dont see women as being serious potential buyers?

Personally, I think it is useful to have input from manufacturers , maybe DDK should have a manufacturers section like some of the USA sites, that way we could learn what these people are up to without offending any perceived "commercialism".

I know I could never afford it, but just out of interest, do the Coupe and/or the Roadster come in an Aluminium body format at all? Actually, I am not sure I understand that - isn't the alloy VERY hot if it is molten?

Sorry, there are somethings I DONT understand (and that includes the fascination by men of of different wheel types - save me please!!!)

If anyone submits an article for the fanzine and a few of feel that it is going to be on interest to ouer members we will run it.

The commercial forum idea good bu until the time airses that we really need it then I'd rather let DDK run as it is.

Over commercialism in posts will of course be noted and policed with no favourtism.
