Tunnel Le Mans
I'm still up for this run too... Haven't done anything about tunnels or tickets or anything really, but me and the misses are all ready to book...
So who has organised what?

Having spoke to Mike (210bhp) I think that the plan for the Scottish crew is to travel down through the UK during Wednesday and probably picking up Phil (pmjt) and get over to France on Wednesday evening and then hook up with the rest of you on the journey down to Le Mans. And if people are getting the early tunnel then we can all meet up with the ferry bunch as well.

I see from the other thread:
http://www.ddk-online.com/phpBB2/viewto ... &start=165
...that a plan to meet at Sees has been suggested. It's 212 miles from Calais according to Multimap so to hit the 9:00am (French time) meeting we need to catch a tunnel at about 3:30 UK time so it's hardly worth bothering going to bed in the UK!!
SO then....
What time are you thinking of getting a tunnel Wednesday night? and then where would you plan to stay in France? I really want to convoy as the Northern Event following you guys was such a emotional moment!

My feeling(open to discussion) was that meeting the ferry boys was always going to be a hit or a miss especially if any car had a problem. I thought that if a few cars via the tunnel could stick together we should just make our own way down. There is always the chance of a huge convoy on the way back. If we could pre book something in Northern France for the wed night we could relax and we could take the tunnel time of our choosing to suit everyone. I suppose this is a bit selfish on our part as we will already have driven quite a distance on the wed from Scotland. It would be nice to have a good sleep after a few beers wed night. What do you guys think?

Mike

I agree with Mike
It's not selfish at at all, I'm worried about the distance from Crewe (lightweight that I am!
)
Whilst I'd love to, it is certainly going to be difficult to meet up with the ferry crowd without starting ridiculously early, either in France or England!
So with my realistic head fitted for a minute I think it would be best for me (and maybe Bazz as well) to meet up with you, Brendon and Phil Thursday am wherever you have stayed in Northern France and then finish the route together. So I'll go back to my 5:30am tunnel idea, catch up with Bazz at the terminal and meet you for breakfast
Plenty more time for us all to change our minds yet

Tunnel Le Mans
This plan of heading over Wednesday night and then staying in northern France and crusing down Thursday sounds like the winner to me!
Anyone booked any tunnel times yet?

I've got the camping receipt back from France, so we have somewhere to stay!
I guess sending your credit card details to a random French fax number does work then
Now my PCGB member friend has to book the entry tickets and parade laps and I can then start worrying about how to fund everything!
Our latest tunnel thoughts are:
Going out: Thursday 5:30am (UK).
Bit early maybe but the cheapest crossing (£44) and we can take our time across France and still get there for lunch. Any later and it jumps to £70.
Coming back: Monday 12:00 midday (FR).
Not the cheapest but only £54, and this should give us time to get from wherever we stay Sunday night and for me to get back home to Crewe at a reasonable time on Monday before I collapse from exhaustion!
We are going to find somewhere on route back from Le Mans to Calais to stay the Sunday night. I was thinking about 150 miles from the circuit so we can clear the area have a decent night of sleep and a shower before another 150miles to Calais in the morning and back to Blighty. Can anyone recommend an area so I can start pinning something down?
I'm commited to it now so I'd better start getting the car sorted out!

If you leave Sunday you'll miss the Sunday night DDK entertainment
( which last time consisted of lots of drink + a meal out in LeMans town followed by a very blurry taxi ride back to teh campsite
)
Actually maybe you have got the right idea

Right guys here are the travel plans for me (bjmullan), Mike (210bhp) and Phil (pmjt). Me and Mike are going to travel down to North Yorkshire on Tuesday evening and leave Mike's early Wednesday morning and get the 14:01 tunnel to France. We then intend to travel southwest of Rouen and get a hotel which will allow us to meet up with the ferry crowd on Thursday morning.
My travel plans for the way back is to catch the 11:58 tunnel back on Monday morning.
I do hope that the rest of you tunnel travellers can meet up with us at some stage.

Hi Gary not sure what to do for Monday, stay at Le Mans and have an early start on Monday or go half way. Either way it would be nice to have some company on the way back. Lets talk about it later, but I would advice booking the tunnel soon as the prices keep going up.
