Not a model to be run Mark, all 'Show n No Go'. The 1940's sparky engine is all but seized.
Just a static model to put somewhere in the house or garage or the den.

It has been so far a bit of a tinkering project, the body is next and that will be a challenge to get the shape let alone the design.

Planning to do the engine in my 73T (3.2) over the winter starting in November when not tooooo cold!

Thus, it needs ideally to be done by Nov (this year!)

Get it running, tie it to the lamppost and really p-off the grumpy neighbour! The noise would be great!!

Grumpy next door refusing to talk to me(us), but is keeping to his side of the boundary when we are in.
Possibly not when we are out, don’t know.
Overheard him spray pressure washer water onto the freshly cleaned Boxster a few weeks ago, the whole family laughed out loud at tough old dad.
All a bit juvenile which is best ignored, and has not been repeated I think.

To the car, far more interesting.

If I could strip the engine to free and clean it will never go back straight again.
The pinion gear bevel drive has no real bearing surface, so might last 0.2 of a second…

I do have a near working sparky ign engine which is too nice to suffer this cars fate.(dusty and lost).

Going to start designing the body using cad as the material is on its way to me now.

This will be a trick to make!

Far more 'VSCC', as is clear from the pics below!

After considerable efforts and a near miss with the tube of superglue the design is forged, the form is formed and CAD rules the day.

I'm expecting the choice of body material to be fruitful.

And easy to make!

Metal arrived yesterday for the body of the Racer.

Thought it was a good novel idea before buying it, became a different thought when cutting and shaping it yesterday, but today everything just fell in place, and I'm really pleased with it so far.

After cutting to the CAD template a lot of trimming started and some 'design' thoughts happened as things progressed, and now the body is hanging up to dry after it's first coat of paint.

Sadly, they have stopped making the colour in rattle cans, so a tedious paint job using an old brush will see that done.

I was going to make a period driver, but that might be beyond my skill set...but...








Work bench needs a very good tidy up:

you need a exhaust pipe down the side to finish it off,

try the next car boot sale, look for some Lego and the men should just be the right size for that, but may melt from the HEAT of the engine of FULL chat (when you get it running)

This one will never run, but a nice thought.

Might try making a driver using plaster of paris or similar .
Have seen a plastic model of Denis the Menice too which appeals far more, or even a Minion!

Have thought about a side pipe but have 2 outlets already at the back of the chassis.

With the paining all done and dry, the final assembly could be done with a few tweaks here and there.

I added at the last moment a lever control on the ignition of the engine, another little 'show' detail.
I was going to use all brass screws for the assembly, but used modern domed headed allen screws and bass nuts because they look neater.

So, all done and dusted, bit quicker than I thought, but has been a good 'tinkering' exercise.

Just need to find a suitable place to park it.



I wonder if anyone watching can see the drive train mistake here? I was worried Nine-One-One or Gary71 would spot it, so now corrected.

There was nothing wrong with it running super fast backwards

I just knew it!
Pleased I spotted that and flipped the crown wheel over this morning.
