Buy a 1l spray bottle of isopropyl alcohol off ebay or amazon. That stuff cleans anything, from paintbrushes with epoxy paint on them to greasy fingers, to sticky tape residue. One of my favourite tools. You will use it constantly.

I’d never heard of using clay bar to clean glass but after googling it it’s a thing apparently

Water as hot as you can stand it with lemon juice added; dry with cotton toweling washed and dried with no fabric softener.

So...
Have tried a few of these ideas, some good, some no so. Tried the alcohol cleaner, then after that application, dry micro wipe closth and then Fast Glass.
Worked the best, still smears though!
The strong sun at times these last few weeks really test anything used.

Have a 'pad' which is made by Jiff I think.
You wet it and scrub away, wipe clean/clear. It is a strong all purpose cleaner pad for kitchens etc so should strip anything off (maybe).

Will keep on trying stuff.

The lemon jouice sounds good, citric acid doing the task I presume.

I've tried all sorts, though just ordered some isopropyl alcohol based on the suggestions here.

Cleaning the glass in 911 is not problematic and lasts well. I find it more noticeable in the rest of our family fleet or newer vehicles. Initially the glass cleans very well, no smears or hazing. Then the hazing happens a day or two later after the cars have been used. I'm putting it down to the a/c (something the 911 doesn't have) or something that the pollen filters do.

I just used paper towels or blue roll.

Isn't Cif, Jiff, etc abrasive? Not sure I'd want to scrub my glass with that.

Yes - been there! :?
You don’t notice the fine scratches until you drive at night and then have to try to find your way through the brightly illuminated spider’s web!

Thanks about that!

The 911 has no issues at all, none. 1973 Simplicity at work!

The Boxster is not too bad, but only 5K miles/year, rarely use the A/C.
The Skoda Superb is evil. Used the most (8K) all year round and little A/C but fan always gently on the screen. Have carbon pollen filters for years on the car to try to stop diesel fumes getting it.
Wife's Skoda Citigo much the same but 1500 miles a year, fan usually on and to the screen. Carbon pollen filter too.

Once 'cleaned' the smear and misting returns after a few days.

Irritating at worse, but i like a clean screen.
