A car with an interesting past!

The only thing I will say is not to get your hopes up about losing the Q registration, which probably won't be a problem if the car is sold abroad. What would be cool is if the current owner of the reshelled DGU bought it to have both in his garage!

A number of years ago, a D-Type Jaguar came up for auction, claiming to be a certain car, based on its chassis number. The person who owned what was always believed to be that car bought it so that whichever was the genuine article was a moot point as he had both...

Hopefully more will be revealed – as in, does it still have its chassis number on the shell, etc – when you get your mitts on the car (tomorrow?).

Never bothers me car is registered as such still a damned awesome car. More money abroad these days no different to what we was doing to the states years ago bringing buses over like god knows. Will have a proper dig around tomoz or Saturday and report back.
Funny how Porsche have been so involved with it over the years too it makes good reading some of the letters and correspondence

Does it have the extra 0 on the VIN or was that a typo?

As you say, none of it matters much, it’s a Q plate and you gave way less for it than if it didn’t have a story. Enjoy!

Great project, green with envy!
Hope you will do some detail on your rebuild. All registered, all details clear on rebuilds when things were more simple and relaxed. Q plate etc makes it all clear.
I would not worry about that aspect.

Hope you will give some focus on the RHD conversion.
A local Porsche specialist did a fair few RHD conversions on 911's in the late 80's, maybe they did others too, they are in the West Midlands.

So, 15K for a running 916, flat 6 and fuche wheels and S front end etc in need of some good TLC.
What a bargain imho.

Early days with this one cos I have my 67 911 kicking me up the ass and my dad jus passed away so having a lot to deal with.
I bought he car on its merits certainly lot worried about the Q reg as all the paperwork I have and chassis number tie together nicely. I thought was a good buy for sure given move not seen a 914/6 anywhere near what I paid and not at 15k either lol

Once I figure out the whole add pics to post thing I’ll post some details . For now it’s safe in storage till I make a plan to move forward )

Dougy you obviously did well to bag this project when you did, I'm just a bit miffed off that I didn't know it was up for grabs otherwise I'd like to think that it would be in my garage not yours lol.

Well b4 I invest in excess of 30k gettin it painted and fully restored I thought I’d give it an option for somebody else to have a chance to own it. I
Paid more than 15 for it as that was a guide price and previous owner took advice on prices but yes I won’t lie if it sells then yes I’ll make some money but that’s life and I’d rather have my 911 done. We would all do the same if we could I’m sure
If it doesn’t find the right home I’ll b keeping it and continue with my plan to bare metal paint it and refresh the rest in a year or two
