Funnily enough Tim, my EDIS-6 stuff arrived from the States this morning.

If you need a short term coil pack and EDIS 6 ECU module loan, let me know and they're yours for at least a couple of months. I understand you can us MS with MSnS to do spark only, so what are you waiting for?

I'll be passing your neck of the woods tomorrow (very early) and again at a more sociable time later in the day. The offers there if of any use - I would be glad to be able to repay your previous assistance with my tacho.

Cheers Ian, but I have had the edis-6 ecu and coil pack for some months now so, yeah... what am I waiting for !
Just sketching out the wiring as I type

BOOO!!!

Just thought I'd wake this thread up again.

Any progress? Considering my sudden lack of carburation this looks tempting.

My thoughts are:

Jenvey et al: Way to expensive
Modify Zeniths: Sounds like a whole heap of trouble!
Motorbike bodies: Spot on 8)

However I ploughed through the megasquirt information yesterday and as I don't have a electrical engineering degree it sounds like a recipe for eternal breakdowns and spending hours replacing burnt out components.

If I go this route I'd get a V3 unit ready assembled, probably the relay box as well, and go for the solid state distributor option with the Ford coil pack. I've looked at throttle bodies from a Ducati 900 and they look tempting, although the injectors may be too large.

Question:

1. Is it conceivable that someone with a fair understanding of the mechanical side of engines, but no electrical knowledge could get this working in a reasonable time frame? I can't blow thousands of hours on it, just need to plug and play (within reason!)

Any thoughts? :)

You don't need to be an electronics whizz to use Megasquirt, just buy one ready assembled from someone who is ! Think of it not as a DIY EFI, but as an open source project with ALL the development information made available. The alternatives , Emerald, DTA etc are all give-and-take, very similar. The bonus with Megasquirt is that ALL the information to make it is readily available. You can do as much or as little in the electronics part as you want. You just really need to be able to join the parts together, electrically and mechanically. I know you will be fine with this project Gary. Look at the megasquirt_uk yahoo group, find Bill Shurvington, he sells made up and tested units.
Ducati 900 ? don't know about these, but they are twins aren't they.
Look at the triumph triple's ? or the GSXR600' (like mine )
Basicall, you will need a smaller choke in EFI terms than you would in Carb, ... if you get what I mean. And then rate the injectors roughly by horse power. 150 bhp from the bike.... 150 bhp from the car. You have to be aware that the bike injectors generally flow more fuel than typical car ones 'cos the very short injection times and high volumes off fuel at Very high revs.
Don't try modifying the zeniths, unless the spindles have already been re-bushed !
Fuel supply may be the biggest issue, you'll need 30 odd PSI fuel, probably with a return line from the regulator to the tank. Means running in an extra line.
Best advice, is do it in stages.....
My plan was fit and wire MS as "monitor only" logging TPS, CHT, IAT, O2(?) and revs.
Then switch to Ignition control (With the EDIS) and finally switch to the Fuelling.
All I need to do is fix the bodywork first !
The Zenith I'm lending (Now removed) you has a TPS and bracket made for this very purpose
Cheers

Hi Tim,

I'm sure with your guidance we can make it work!

The Ducati was temting as they are separate, hence no issues with cylinder spacing to match the flat 6. Also it's not a screamer so the injectors MAY be more compatible. The speed triple is certainly a fine idea, again not a screamer of a bike. Are these separate or all one piece? I feel a trip to a bike scrapyard coming on... :)

let me know where to meet you on Saturday, also what form of alcohol I can thank you with! 8) 8)

I'll PM you an address. Alcohol.... Up to you mate, I'll drink pretty much anything ! :drunken:
Early GSXR TB's are seperate, I think the Triumph ones are too. Trouble with the GSXR ones is that the kit car folks are putting them everything, and so fetch premium on Ebay. The triple's have a smaller market appeal, and hence cheaper :) Failing that have you seen the Bitz racing conversion on the CIS system ??

Hey Tim, Just tripped over my Paypal account and bought these:

and he has just emailed to say he has another set for the other side as well... They look good as they come with fuel rail, tps, pressure regulator etc.

I'm going to do the ignition first as you suggest Tim then move onto the fuelling once that is up and running. You are a bad influence :)

Red, white or p155 coloured?

If any you guys need help setting up/mapping, or Efi installs give us a shout, www.raceshack.co.uk
We have mapped and set up most common types of Ecu, including megasquirt, Omex, DTA, Motec, Gotec, Mbe etc in both N/A and turbo/supercharged applications.
The dyno can handle 2000Bhp and 225mph so no power problems, 95% Efi mapping sessions cost 2hours dyno time at @ £90ph and one hour on the floor @ £60ph
we also carry full sets of dell and weber jets

Twin-plug

May I put in a plug for twin?

Oooer missus.

The hemi head of the 911 is really poorly served by a single plug..twin plug is perhaps the single best mod for any hottish 911 motor bar none..

I have now got a decent selection of heads ready twin plugged,,available on exchange basis.

They are beutifully done if I may be so bold..

MSQ does twin plugs beautifully and of course very cheaply using a variety of systems..twin-EDIS being my choice..I have a set to spare..

Kind regards
David

The twin plug heads maybe a stretch too far at this point, a T is far from hot

However I am in the market for the EDIS6 (not 12!!!) kit, I'm after:

Ignition module
Ignition coil
Spark plug wire set
36-1 Trigger ring (still on original pulley if poss so I have something to machine)
VR Sensor
Fuel pump inertia switch

What have you got, and most importantly how much! I seem to be able to source is US side for around £75+P&P

Gary

As per other post, you can borrow my complete EDIS-6 setup for at least a few months.

Cheers
