RS6. Not exactly an original choice for someone who needs more space than an RS4.

I'm boring myself now....
Need to find a pic of the boy racer Scirocco, circa 1989. Or the CX - now that was a proper car...

I think that I've posted this before but this was my Suzuki LJ80V that was my second car in 1985. It packed an 800cc motor and cost me £1800 which was a lot of cash back then to an 18 year old. I fitted the KC Daylighters with the smiley faces. check out the Kevin Keegan mullet and my Dad's Marina Coupe too!

Started off with a Metro 1.3L for my 18th, I used to rag that thing. Was off cars for a few years, uni then travelling before I got a '93 Clio 1.4RT, I thought it was sporty at the time :) After that got a '96 Prelude which was a 2.2 VTEC and looked like KIT inside with all the LCD displays.

Following the Predule this 3.2S was my first Porsche

Had this as a toy at the same time as the Boxster

Needed more room so sold the Boxster / Capri and got this 993

2 children meant more room. Had a new VW Scirroco in between times but it got stolen so returned to Porsche

Still have this old boy though he doesn't get much use

nice Golfs Ralph 8) Have you still got any of them ?

.. My parents made me buy a 'proper' car when i got my first job straight out of uni as an engineer in the subsea oil industry as they didnt' think a scruffy beetle that had been lowered to the point the front beam scrapped the road all the time was suitable  . Anyway I bought an immaculate 1991 Mk2 golf 1.6 Driver ( gti look a like but with no power ) from the main dealer in York . Loved that car and did some great european driving in it with my now wife . Think I had it about 1.5 years and sold it for onlu about £300 less than Id paid . Would like another MK2 sometime but preferably a gti small bumper 8)

Although my first car was a Beetle - a '55 Oval bought for £30 - it wasn't because I was a VW fan, merely the fact that it was a bit different to my mate's cars (typically A 35's, Morris Minors, Standard 8's/10's, etc) - & I've never owned one since (apart from a donor 1300 bought to build a GP Spyder in the early '80's).

I've owned lots of 'Classics' (over 100 I think ! ) but the vast majority were in pre-digital days & I don't tend to take pictures of my cars anyway ...

However here are a few random pictures :

Firstly me in a silly pose with my TVR Grantura Mk IIa - my everyday car for 6 years in the early '70's:

Image

My first Alfa - a '67 LHD Giulia Sprint GTV - bought in the late '70's:

Image

Possibly the worst car I've ever owned - a Matra Simca Bagheera S (sometime in the early '80's I think):

Image

A Jaguar D-Type replica I built in the late '80's/early '90's:

Image

Image

After I sold that, I bought a 924 Carrera GT (one of only 75 RHD cars built):

Image

Which I swapped 12-18 months later for this Dino-engined Stratos replica:

Image

Image

I can't remember exactly when I owned these - sometime in the mid '90's I think !!

A '65 Renault R8 Gordini which I totally restored (& fitted with a set of rare set of bi-metallic wheels) :

Image

-& a car many said didn't exist/wasn't built - a very early RHD 'solid buttress' Beta Montecarlo:

- more later ...

Fantastic looking car but quite unreliable. It was repurchased by Lancia after about 2-3 years i think as it was one of the infamous rusting Lancias from which the engines fell out whilst you were driving.

Bought this in 2015 for £18k. A fairly ropey 964 C2 manual cab. Sold it back to dealer two months later for £18k. Free motoring for summer. It was scabby, leaked a lot of oil, had a manky creamish interior and was many shades of blue. Pretty much what I would like now to rag around in. If I could go out. Which I cant

Yes James - 3-abreast seating.

I don't have any pictures of the interior of my car but it was trimmed in a light brown tweed type material ...

I've been looking through some more old (pre-digital) photos & found some more old cars I owned:

This is a GP Spyder I built in '84 - in a single rented garage ~ a mile from home so no power tools other than an early cordless drill.

I think I must have been the only person in the UK to build a LHD Spyder from a RHD donor Beetle (the correct '66 model in order to get the 'ventilated' 5-stud wheels, 'fluted' brake drums, etc):

Image

- & these were part of a comparison (with a professionally-built highly modified 356 Speedster replica) article in the French version of a magazine entitled 'Top Marques':

Image

Image

This 2.0 litre-engined Guilia Super was used as my everyday car in the late '90's &, funnily enough, was bought by a DDK member in the early 2000's.
It then got uprated/converted to a twin-spark engine, etc & painted white.

*Bonus marks to the first person to correctly identify the wheels ...
