Tim, I should have acknowledged you! -Tim sold me his SVP wheelarch liners in a rush..I had horrid feeling that the drive back in february would be awash with salt and mud, and so I took Tim's liners in my luggage!

In the end it was dry all the way - The Porsche Gods spoke on that one - so we didnt fit them in the end. But they are going on before it gets used in anger..after a rinse of the arches and a bit more antirust stuff. I appreciate you going to the trouble of sending them so quickly..

JB, I quite like the tail...having said that it is off already, was the first thing I did! But I'm not going to weld the holes, just grommet them. I think tails will be cool again one day soon..

I forgot to acknowledge Hagerty by the way, who insured the car on the VIN alone, from the moment of purchase, and with breakdown cover in the UK too. They really are a good bunch of people, I have all four insured with them now.

Q: is your oil gauge working? A couple of pics looked full at temperature and up at revs.

But I could have my gauges confused and I think they fail to full anyway (my 3.2 does)

Hey DeRRis, interesting that you live nearby. Do you know them? From our experience, Matthjis and Jaap are to be recommended, although they have hiked their prices on Porsches since I bought mine. They are saying that it is getting ever harder to find good cheap cars stateside. And I think they are brave taking on that Bronze SC with 400k+ miles, we saw that when we were there and it makes my car look concours.. still, solid underneath where it counts.

I was tempted by their mercs though, they seem tremendous value. I think my wife needs an SL in her life. And they get 914s and microbuses in too.

Ste: good spot, the oil level gauge is indeed a bit wacky, we were going strictly dipstick. Bad earth I wonder, if it is registering full, although it was also doing some yo-yoing, so I am going to leave it to see if it self-heals with use...often happens in Porsches in my experience
