If i remember correctly there's an adjustment in the top half of the catch, which adjusts the tension in the spring that pushes it open, and the height at which the catch catches. If there's too much tension there it can stop the catch from coking across and golding. This of course works in conjunction with the overall fit of the bonnet and the rubber seals etc.
What you really don't want, is a bonnet that pops open and a safety hook that doesn't work. Ask me how i know.
