Yes, you have 2 left side seats (passenger's side in a RHD car or driver's side in a LHD car).

I had my bases powder coated by a local company and sliders plated by a local plating company. They came back pretty good I think. My seats are currently with Garry (Visualfx on here).

Your seat bases look nice, think I need to find a drivers side seat....am guessing like needle in a haystack??? If I find one Ill sell one of mine if anyone interested or may have to make do with 2 passenger seats.

Anyway the dismantling process is going well, learnt today to drain the fuel tank prior to removing it Think I am going to fit a larger capacity tank as on CLM trip I was forever filling the damn thing, I assume this is possible whilst still fitting spare wheel in there??



Found some more 'lightweight material' around the fuel tank filler pipe on inner wing too.....



I'll be soon onto the engine/gearbox removal, any tips anyone please??

Think its time for me to pop round to make sure your keeping everything and not dismantling using that big hammer of yours

Thanks to James too as he has helped so much since day 1 of "James, I think I fancy buying a project 911" 18 months ago. literally hundreds and hundreds of emails/text/phone calls later......

Well James has just been round (hid the jackhammer before he arrived), checked I was labelling parts/taking photos and not using the big hammer. We had a little poke around the rear parcel shelf which apparently "isnt as bad as it could have been"..........

Couple of photos of the top rear corners of the parcel shelf:





All looks pretty solid apart from dodgy repair and further corrosion in one corner and sunroof drainage pipe corroded too which would explain why when I removed the rear seats they left a large puddle of water on each side!! Thinking is bottom corners of windscreen and rear window will reveal dodgy repairs on outside once paint removed...

Underside of parcel shelf:





Bit of cleaning with wire brush on front inner wings looks promising on the outside. Guess some time in the big oven or media blasting (undecided as yet, any comments from experience gratefully accepted...) will reveal the true extent.





Sunroof not looking too happy either, it sits flat at front (if not a little raised) but rear corners drop away. It looks bent and guessing I need to replace.



Still quite enthusiastic at this stage. Absolutely dreading the wiring removal! Hoping to get cracked on with engine/gearbox at weekend and tackle the dashboard which currently not cracked so according to James I need to be REALLY careful (not a job for the jackhammer then)

Bit of positive news to end on. Each wheel has 972 stamped on which apparently equates to Sept 1972 which would make the wheels original to the car!

We've seen a lot worse Adam, keep the faith

For the wiring loom question have a look through the Ikea car thread. Mick (ikea car owner) also answered a similar question on loom removal recently on here too somewhere.

Thanks guys, loom removal is iminent as had a bit of progress tonight.......

After conferring with James last night and speaking to Nick Fulljames this afternoon about tips on engine removal I managed to 'borrow' a large trolley jack and large axel stands from our very kind mechanic at work, ate my tea and set about my first ever engine removal....and the results were......



As you can see garage is a bit of a mess but I literally shoved everything to the sides last week when car failed MOT and wasnt aware that a week later I would be in this position...next job is sort out garage and put in order everything Ive removed so far. Its bagged and labelled but as you can see car is surrounded by bits...



Engine came out without a hitch and will be packed off to Nick for a 'look' shortly. Engine ran real strong on CLM trip and apparently no smoke so to be honest I'm a little reluctant to open it all up. May just go for clean and cosmetic updates, oh, and look at oil leak between engine and gearbox....

Engine bay looking good too but again, who knows what lies beneath





Back to the wiring loom question, Im more than happy to take things to bits but petrified about wiring. Thanks for the Ikea thread suggestion Mike, I'll have a look tonight and may also take you up on your offer John for a hand please

Please with progress so far and just going to keep going as want it stripped before I lose the energy then can start RESTORING!!!!!

Oh, Scotland trip may be in some kind of Landrover product...dont think it will be ready by then.....
