Fuchs have a stand at Essen every year, and a couple of years ago I noticed that they were promoting their own refurb process. Their prices were, at that time, 50% - 100% above typical UK prices and, interestingly, they were unable to carry out the RSR finish.

The rims should be polished, anodised and painted.

In case it helps we also refurb many Fuchs many of which are on cars in the resto section. The wheels need correctly stripping first to remove paint and anodising if present. We then re machine the up stand to remove corrosion and also damage from tire fitting which most of these wheels have. This is done on a CNC lathe. We spent time creating programmes which machine the correct/original radius on each wheel. It is also useful as we can accurately check the run out.



Here are a pair machined this week, now ready for polishing.



Later this year we will also start dipping the wheels rather than masking which is how the early style Fuchs were done.

Good plan!

Other than the rather large bucket of paint required this has to be a much quicker and more consistent way of doing it than manually masking off.
