Scribbled some hitech drawings today...

From drawing to final parts.



I bought a center with splines for the new steeringwheel. The center is originally meant for Grant wheels but works also for this.



To make it work with the custom Splitbus hornbutton I have to make custommade hub for the wheel. I have a friend working at the local vocational school on the department of metalworking. He gave one student my measurement as a practice piece to work out angles etc. on a metal lathe...



First part is done. Second is going to be done during the coming week.

Painted the "Outcast" badge even though the print transfere wasn't perfect.
Looks kind lf Ok anyhow... I'm going for another attempt later anyhow...



Steeringwheel center allmost done too. All parts billet one off made...

Just had to test one 6,5x15 mercedes steelie just to see how it fits... offset 49mm.



Theres about 15-20mm clearance from inside of wheel to torsionplate and outside just tightly inside the body...

Today I tested an originalwheel from a 1966 beetle. It would also be one option. There's room for widening about 5-6cm inwards and 2cm out. Which would end at 6-7 inch wide too...
It feels wrong in my opinion to buy a set of new 356 copies or even used original 356 wheels for a large amount of money to just cut them up and widen them too....

Like the 66 Beetle wheel ... because the holes in the center are different than the 356 repro's. I had them on my Intermeccanica. The only problem was to find a straight and round set of them.

Today I started cutting out the fiberglass inner doorsills as I wanted to make the innerpart in sheetmetal so I can, if needed later lift off the body from the pan. The rollcage would not allow this if I mount the body permanantly straight to the pan.

Inner parts cut out.



New panels in sheetmetal prefitted.
A square tube will be sitting under the doorsill as support too.



Also finally got the first part of the rearfloor prefitted.
The firewall will also be replaced with a more "original looking" firewall.



Now I just have to cut and fit the leftside doorsillpanels too. After that I can start welding the parts to the pan and fill up in the corners between rearfloor and sills.

Scored a pair of 356 replica wheels so now I can make the 6½x15 wheels for the rear with offset 50mm.. The wheels will not look widened from the sides but wider than stock from the rear...



I also scored one set of ITB's from a Kawasaki bike that are adapted to Type-1 manifolds.

Very limited freetime at the moment.. But atleast I got into cutting and separating the first wheelcenter from arch yesterday.

Ok. I cut up the first 6,5x15 MB wheel today. Started by butchering the center just to ease the removal.



Here now with 356 center prefitted at Offset 49mm compared to the 25mm offset on the stock type 5,5x15 to the left.




Also testfitted on car. Might work with a little less offset, maybe 40-45. Got to test some more later.
