Firstly the price of 912s rising isn't so bad. If you have one

It seems that few people have been testing the top end of the market. Someone on here was trying to say there soft top targa for 34k but I think they had to rethink that plan to the mid 20s. Then we have Alan's 65 pretty much original & being sorted by them on the market for 40k and now this 66 for 40k. I guess that the thinking is that someone will realise that they look the same as a 911 and maybe the early 912, with a 120/30 bhp engine, drives better at a fraction of the cost? As you correctly say no one has taken the bate yet & Gavin has a very nice car for sale too.

Gavin suggested his was sold the other day. Not surprising given the spec and condition and of course the sensible price

A few year ago there was a nice blue 1965/6 rally prepared 912 on PH for about 19k. Seems like a steal now

The amount my car is costing (and even though i am not planning to sell it) im glad there going up in value. Easyier to justify to the wife

Yes. I haven't seen either, so it's not my opinion, it's Paul's.

If it's an Andy Prill engine it might secretly be a 2.5 which could raise the value a bit.

This car which looks like a nice 65 just sold for $40k so using the $ for £ logical maybe we will see £40k for a 912??

It's an interesting one, this rise in values in '12s. I suppose like Neil, as an owner it doesn't worry me, it would if I was in the market for one though.

I think it's probably natural that as 356 and 911 values rise, the 912 values would rise in proportion with them. But possibly there;s another dynamic at play also, which is that a slightly under-appreciated model is being increasingly recognised. Put those two things together and it might explain the sharp rise over the last 18 months.

Whether or not you consider the prices good value is up to the individual, as always.

Whoever has bought Gavin's car has done well I think - I had the same Prill motor built for mine last year, and it makes the car a completely different animal. A '12 with 115-125 or so hp is a very capable car.

I think the real interesting question here though is what is Gavin replacing it with - must be a hell of a car - Gavin?

I really want to believe that too being an owner but buyers had have quite a few years to discover this undiscover gem

Agreed but that is amazing to he is how Andy's name is almost considered to be the only 912 engine builder of value in the UK! Don't get me know I've only heard positive things/had positive interactions with Mr Prill but there are surely other outstanding engine builders that don't charge quite the same premium?

Not many 912 / 356 engine builders out there anymore though.

PRS & Max at Revival are the other 2 that i would trust.
