Sweet memories:red964 wrote:Yeah. I need to talk some with mark rs911.com he will know whats what.
My last project turned out ok and started from essentially the same starting point, though admittedly i did start saving the last one 8 years ago. This one has had more time to fester.
Steve...not too sure what exactly happened to the last 8 years
Good luck with your new play thing

Hi Martin
Yeah it's been a blur.
I wish I'd kept those bloody lightweight seats from the old red car they would be worth a fortune!!
Are you still out east somewhere?

Wheels are mag 917 copies my andy at r to rsr dot com. Can be had with rear centre lock but i opted to keep the 5 bolt and have a fake centrelock. They are friggin sweet. All i need now is arches to put them under and tyres to wrap around them.
Im gonna have to sell something else to afford the tyres!!! Tb15 or 5s i think or avon cr6zz
The wheels arnt right for the 3.0 rs but would be spot on for the 3.0 rsr in 9 n 14s so i opted for them on the 3.0 look to make a change from fuchs.
Hope it works out
I got some tasty brakes to go in there too. Should look awesome through those 5 spokes

Icant tell how oldthese things are but they aint cracked, no repairs, still feel like rubber not plastic and are pretty funky.

Fitted the interior today.
Re: 3.0 RS underway
Took the ole 3.2 exhaust off today without any penetrating oil or anything.
Imagine my surprise when all of the grotty nuts came straight off with only one unthreading the stud neatly out the head (no biggy). What are the chances of that!
Then i went in for the barrel nuts, poink! 5 came off no probs then pop the last sheared the stud. Still no problem as it left enough stud in place for me to remove from the head. A happy hours work done. Lookinv forward to getting the new system on now.

What to choose, the rsr headers and megaphones, or the Magnus Walker system. Decisions decisions.

Re: 3.0 RS underway
Mixed day today. Got half the headers on. For ease i went with the long obx rsr pipes and the walker back box. Got the lhs obx on easy enough then struggled with the rhs.
Being 3.2 lon studs means its a bit harder to line up all 6 holes and pipes whilst hoping the new gaskets stay up in place. It got even harder when it became evident that the 2nd pipe was out of alignment.
A bitch of a job lying on the floor under the back of the car with about a foot of working space and the strength in my arms fading trying to hold the thing in place.
Reached my energy gap and bailed out on the rhs, time for a rethink!
Took to swapping in a new dme relay and borrowing the audi battery. Turned her over a few times with no coil on then reconnected, turned key and VROOOM what a noise (no exhaust)
No fuss, no dramas, three years off the road and pop, straight back to life. Thats Porsche for you!
Whats next, remove the fitting manifold and fit the walker ssi's. Drain the oil and fit a loop under oil line while i am at it then new oil n filter and a re-run. I might as well do the valve gaps whilst im down there and new plugs.
If anyone wants a free orig 3.2 system its on my drive waiting the scrap man. Its not terrible, the exchangers will work it just needs a new side pipe n your backbox.
