Always wanted to visit this village and museum .

Promotes itself as "Village de l’Automobile " .
Is it do-able on the way to Le Mans after our overnight in Honfluer ? Or a bit to far out of our way ?

Does anyone have advice for a route from Calais to Le Mans that's not all autoroutes?

And any ideas of nice places to stay on the way down? Quite keen to break the journey up.

Matt , on the way down a group of us usually stop in Rouen for the weds night ( not this year though due to the Tour de France being there on the Weds .. we're now stopping on weds night near the coast )

If you're getting the Thursday tunnel, you might just want to do a single run straight down to Lemans as most of DDK are arriving at the camp site Thursday afternoon ( are you camping ? ) ... we then have our early morning drive & photo on Friday before the public roads shut which is really worth being there for

Hi James,

I'm not camping unfortunately, I booked through PCFR so that I can do a track lap and I'm with my old man so we've opted for the relative comfort of the Etap in Le Mans.
I've only booked Fri and Sat nights because the intention was to stop somewhere en route. Having said that I'd like to be there for the DDK photo on Friday, what sort of time do you normally do that?

Not too early on the Friday .. aim top leave the site for 10am, meet at the 2nd chicane on the Mulsanne for 10.30 ... roads close at 12 noon

Do you have some where to stop on Sunday night ?

Should make the photo then with an early start from wherever we are. Presumably around Rouen somewhere, depending on Le Tour.

On the Sunday was thinking of heading away from Le Mans in the evening and getting a couple of hours closer to Calais.

Not going to cause me any problems as I'm planning to catch it in at least two places :)
