How are you? I am out here because of you, and you are absolutely correct, I have received great feedback and comments from everyone. Nice group of people here, so glad you turned me onto this community. It is not every day that an Outlaw can find a community to move into, ha ha.
Thanks,
Shane

Paint Soon
Got a couple of new photographs, not much progress, any day now for paint, wanted to post something. I also have finalized my thoughts with Augustin at Autos International about the interior color scheme and the white stitch on black leather throughout, going to be very cool I think.

Thanks for continuing to follow.

MiniLites
For me the wheels that came stock on my car, which I received with the purchase just did not do it for me, even without the hubcaps, by the way what type of sports car has hubcaps? The older 356 wheels back in the drum brake days look kind of cool and mean without their hubcaps, but the disk brake wheels just do not have that feel in my opinion. I also always had a little trouble with the unfinished look of the earlier wheels with no caps, looks very much like something is missing, when in fact it is, the 1/2 moons.911hillclimber wrote:Are Minilites becoming the acceptable alternative?
So what to do, I thought about Fuchs but truly did not like the look of that 911 wheel on a 356, just does not look period correct. That is when I found the MiniLites. They are period correct, very strong and lightweight and would have been a viable alternative back in the 60's for a 356. They have a very significant race history also to them so made sense with my Outlaw Race Car Theme. Though not a Porsche product, I think they look good and many in the 356 Outlaw community have adopted them, when Rod Emory puts them on so many of his cars, you know they have to be good and everything he does is cool, so it was a no brainer for me.
Just one guys opinion, but what do I know, my car is fully disassembled and I have never sat in a 356. Lets home in August or so of this year, you can be the judge if MiniLites are the way to go on a late model 356, heck what am I say, the last year for the 356, only 1101 of them were made that last year. A very significant time for the Porsche marquee, move over 16 year old 356, we have a new model on the market and it is a 911. It should be noted that the 911 actually made its debut in 1963 but did not take over for the 356 unitl 1965.
Thanks, for reading my opinion,
Shane

Hi Shane,
Have you considered using the 944/993 spare wheel? It's alloy and fits straight on the 356 disc hub. Here is a registry thread about them.

Initial Motor Photographs
Car getting painted TODAY as I speak, Bill shared some photographs of the motor as our starting point.

My little Outlaw will get many performance upgrades before it is all said and done. 125HP is a goal.
Thanks for following,
Shane

MiniLites
How are you? I have already purchased the MiniLites and have grown very fond of the look. Wheels can always be changed anyway, but I think I will be happy with my choice. I do like the wheels that you mention as well.pauldvern wrote:Hi Shane,

Paint Booth Photographs
Paint is in process, YEAH HA!

I think I mentioned previously, the Porsche Silver paint is the same paint codes as K45-286 as it sits at the Porsche Museum right now. It is a very nice and classic silver, not to mention historic. The dash is being painted 912 Grand Prix White, from a suggestion from someone at the registry, wanted a Porsche White but it needed to be WHITE WHITE, and this fit the bill after looking at other Porsche whites. The large race stripe will be the same color white along with the GT Mirror and the Spyder license place fixture in the back. The Iron Cross Dean Jeffries torsion bar covers will also be white. Very excited.
Thanks for following. Will look much better once it is clear coated.
Thanks,
Shane
