Thanks for the different contributions.
Toyo 888s for 15" wheels are available in 225/50 as well as 235/50 (for the widest sizes) - it would be interesting to know whether the tyres mounted are 225 or 235 just as a case of reference with respect to tyres that actually fit 10" wheels.
I agree that the tyres - though stretched a bit - seem to fit ok. That only adds to the interest of knowing what tyres they are ;-)
Any decent alternative to the costly TB15s is worth being explored!

Those wheels are the rears off my 914/6 which Mark has borrowed for test fitting. They are actually 9" Minilites , and the tyres are 225/50/15 888s .
I have a set of 10s , which I was going to use on the rear of my ST - 225 s are too much of a stretch - I guess if a 235 is available , they might fit - but 285/40 is a better option.
I am using Yokohama 285/40/15 - cheaper ,and longer lasting than TB15s

Heres a picture of the 225s on the 9s , and the 285s on 10s.
