What a weekend, thankyou James, a lot of work went into this being an excellent weekend.

The route was a seamless, sublime selection of what the Northern territories have to offer the energetic driver, the hotels were perfect for our needs and the company, as always, was that rare DDk mix of pure Porsche and belly laughs.

Thankyou Vicki and Danny for fearless leadership up (and back down) Hardnott and for organising Fridays evening dining. More to that than meets the eye.

Thankyou to James and Tracey and Doug and Marlies for waiting for me to catch up.

My new camera has a whole selection of `modes`, one of which appears to be `Take Rubbish photographs`...... I won`t bother you with those.

This is what I have left.

The night before the day after.

The morning after,

And finally a nice bit of Paisley Power. Titter ye not.

Regards and thanks to all, I look forward to your pictures.

Mike.

Wow … what a weekend 8)

I’ll get my thankyou’s in 1st …..

Thanks to James ( 58a-71E) for his help / company on recce the routes earlier in the year ( it was a good excuse for a jolly ;) )

Thanks to Vicki for organising the Friday night meal & for her help on Saturday morning

Thanks to all the ‘guide’ cars for helping ensure the 1st part of the run went well, even if the groupings didn’t quite go as planned

Thanks to Johnny Tipler & Anthony Fraser for joining us all & entertaining us by dangling Anthony out of the windows / roof of 356’s just to get ‘that’ photo

Thanks to Helen for kindly lending out her cars to Tim & Johnny

And finally thanks to everyone who came along on the C2C and made it such an enjoyable weekend …. What more could you ask for, great cars, great people, great roads & great weather .

Friday I arrived at the Hotel to be confronted by a car park full with early Porsches & familiar faces already tucking into a pint or 2 ;) Even Mike Bainbridge turned up to see us all on our way :) ( A rare occasion indeed to get him out of his workshop / overalls  ).

Image

Saturday morning was an early start , but the sun was shining & the early morning mist soon lifted

En-route to St Bees

Image

Soon got the groups organised & sent them on their way in 10 minute intervals

Image

I’m sure you all wondered why I was putting you all into groups  ….. but then the 1st pass of the day was reached , Hardknott.

My group were pretty lucky with the run up to Hardknott & covered the ground well , so much so we caught up with the previous group

Image

what a view

Image

So with 10 Porsches + a tourist or so , this made for a couple of tight moments along the way .

Image

Anyone for a bit of offroading ;)

Image

As usual, the Lake district roads can be a bit frustrating due to the amount of cars / people on the roads. After following a coach along Ullswater, our group took the opportunity for a lunch break in preparation for the ‘quick roads’ after Penrith.

Image

Onto some of my favorite roads up & around Alston. Luckilly , myself , Sladey & Ian got an almost completely free run up the Hartside Pass … what a superb road it is & one we took full advantage off to ;) . Hartside café was heaving with bikers so not much of a chance of a photo , so on again for a spirited run back down through Teesdale .. no time for photos as we were enjoying ourselves too much

Time for a well earned break & time for my brakes to cool down

Image

Still a long way to go though & time was getting on … so onwards over some of the Dales great roads ( which due to the sunshine seemed to have every slow driving tourist out on them  )

Image

Sat night was the usual kind of thing ;) which resulted in some sore heads at the Breakfast table Sunday morning

But, surprisingly everyone was up & with their cars at 9.15, as requested for the group photo

So, on to the final leg of the journey back through the Dales & across onto the North Yorkshire Moors….. our group had a quick stop @ Masham

Image

Image

…. And then a straight run up through the wilds of Blakey Ridge with a quick stop for lunch at Rosedale then finally onto Ravenscar via Goathland …. But for some reason though I didn’t get any photos en-route :(

Image

And just to show .. I was the last one to leave Ravenscar ;)

Image

The whole event was great & I loved every bit of it 8)

Now though, I’m knackered

Absolutely fantastic.
Thankyou James for a great route, fantastic organisation and even better company.
Just to prove it wasn't all 911's here were a few 'VW' interlopers caught on camera. The climb up to Hartside view point never ceases to put a smile on my face.

Fantastic weekend, fantastic piccys :o) Thanks to James once again for all your efforts, and to John M for the spot-on route-finding to show us southerners some amazing roads.

Oh, and thanks to Will for the monster hangover on Sunday... making me drink all that wine... was I the only one suffering?
