I have one S chrome button surround but it is attached to an even rarer RHD S only, passenger grab handle.

If you need this one, I will sell the whole unit but I am afraid as Mike says, it will be top $.

I could well be interested, it may be possible to have a replica made from this piece, I know some great artisans in Hungary who can probably copy anything.
Also looking for an orange bar bonnet badge.

Just to clarify on the Sussex car (Marcus, my memory is better than yours but, then again, I'm that much younger... ):

The owner said that he had it painted 'Polar White' in the '80's but the car was originally Ivory (or Light Ivory.)

I found some more piccies (I do hope Bob doesn't mind?!)

Looks pretty stunning work to me. Love light ivory and it compliments the SWB perfectly.

May I make one or two observations.

The interior of the engine bay and front trunk are black...yes?
The wheel wells front and rear are black.....yes?
The outer floorpan is body colour....yes?

I am sure the inner section of the rear grille upto about one eighth of an inch from the lip (ie the recess under the grille) should be black. Can you confirm. If this is the case my car also needs this done.

One other observation


I know this causes some debate but I have trawled through many period photos and magazines articles of the 60's and I am still convinced that RHD 67S models had their wipers parked to the right. I know you may not agree but from what I can make out all models from about 68 onwards switched to wipers parking to the left.

Trivial point I know. Need to get out more.

Hmmm, there are a couple of teaser questions! All the books and factory photos I have show that he 67S had body colour under the engine lid grill. There is some discrepancy about wiper positions, but again I beleive that on the 67 cars the wipers parked opposite the driver, but from 68 on parked on the driver's side. The park position can be swapped by moving a compoment in the mechanism.

The Sussex car pictured earlier in this thread has the wipers parked to the left and we believe that this is a pretty original car (apart from the colour)If as Nick says it takes a mechanical alteration to make them park on the other side having met the owner of that car I cant believe he would have done that. Apart from a couple, of performance mods he was adament and proud of that cars originality having owned it on and off for its entire life.

Nick the car is lovely, I did stop at the filling station in Langton where I noticed a full length mirror along the wall alongside the pumps, god she looked smart.
Cant say much about the sad old git driving it but the car looked great.
I really do think I made the right decision to go back to Light Ivory.

Looks great. Marcus are you fitting the original style red framed engine bay stickers? If so I will also be buying a set soon so let me know if you want some. There are several sources for reproduction ones and I am doing some research to whom makes the best.

With regards to the wipers, I also thought the 67 wipers parked opposite to the drive whilst from 68 they were in front of the driver. The reason being the wipers remove the water away from the drivers view. I have moved the wiper arms away from the driver view in the past, I know this is not original but it does makes for a better/clearer driving view. This is a simple process, remove the M6 nut behind the wiper motor, move to new position and re-tighten. With access it is a 2 min job.

Oh, one thing - be prepared for certain comments re the bonnet badge and I can't believe the car's still sporting THAT homemade tax disc holder - that was only ever meant to be a very temporary fixture!!!

Nick and I swapped a few e mails about the red trim stickers, couldnt find a definitive view so we went with black edged in the end.
Will you be at Hedingham? be good to catch up then and talk stickers!
