I have the same problem, I want to drive the car every day. I am up for trying to make up a set, plastic will be cheaper, may be possible to do a few sets, particularly if anyone has a template. I am looking a what plastics/composites/grp etc may be available to do the job at reasonable cost.

Any thoughts?

If you find a source of suitable plastic in sheet form, please post it here  .... I'm considering making some myself

Cheers,

we've used this place http://www.esheet.co.uk/ for some display panels, the guy I spoke was really helpful (if abit wierd) and knew everything about plastics.

I've been thinking about making some myself from left overs of what we bought. Its really tough stuff, none shatter and flexible (3mm thick)

The shape/template would be the tough part but should be too bad as I'm a whizz with a scalpel and carboard.

Thing is I just don't have time.

Interesting site Nige... never thought I'd get so absorbed in a website about plastics

I may get in touch with them at some point, once the car is back together. I dont think the patterns would take too long to make if theres a good supply of big cardborad boxes to hand, and a scalpel as you say....

If you can produce an outline drawing in cad form, A friend has a plastics factory that could drop a sheet or two on their 2 axis router machine
