I think with the colour thing, its best to determine exactly what the original paint code was & just get the car painted :D

My parents still live in Whalley.
I know the paint code is 018 I just wish I knew what it's going to look like ! I sometimes think blood orange is cool as , sometimes I don't like it at all. I suppose what I'm rooting around for is if there is any lee-way in shades of the supposedly same colour. If so I was just going to go for a shade of orange that I like ie signal and could pass for tangerine to someone less anally retentive than me when it comes to selling someday ....
I've emailed Josh Sadler to see if he agrees with your sentiment - just get the "correct" colour , and don't worry if it's not what you had in mind.
Truth is , should I sell the car , being the correct colour might actually have paid for the resto .....

This is what Josh Sadler at Autofarm has to say on the subject :

An original 72S will significantly benefit in value if it's in its correct original colour. Especially if Blood Orange, which was still the Factory competition colour in '72, and which sells well from our point of view.
Tangerine is the same colour. Glasurit ref. POR 018. Glasurit colours are consistent, though oranges are very prone to fade and this explains why some of the american cars you showed me look so much lighter.
Paint it the correct colour in my opinion. I'm sure it will grow on you. Remember the original colour is I'm sure still there in the bodyshell recesses.

John, I would definitely bring her back to the original colour.....absolutley no doubt.
Just look at all colours of modern day cars....no character. Dress her as she should be.....and I agree it will help the value of the car.

I would go with the original colour John. For a while Sean's car was going to be painted silver but after coming to my senses the original Signal Orange was definitely the right choice.

Thanks for the compliment, I like it too!!! I was looking at the car last night and IMHO it's such a period colour it suits the car down to the ground, although admittedly it's not for everyone.
I was unsure about whether 'Blood Orange' was a factory colour, as I think Robert Gant told me it wasn't? I know the car was orange from the factory but it's seems nigh on impossible to read the code from the factory stamp.
Good luck with the decision, I can think of worse ones to have to make...
