Id love to do some of those roads and take the 14 abroad some day soon, getting fed up with the quality of the local blacktop, especially running low, have you lowered your 14?

Welcome home Mr and Mrs Gilbert, you finally married and back home again. Wow it seems like an awesome trip buddy. In fact it sounds like a dream honey moon. Your car look more at home in that scenery then it ever did in North London buddy.

How cool is the Veyron?!?! We saw them go for a few laps at Le mans and they are SOOOO quite right? Silent large monsters. Not a bad job welding a few VR6’s together huh?

It’s so cool that you back buddy we’ll have to hook up and get the full lo-down on the wedding and honey moon. Seems it was awesome. So very happy for you both.

It wasn’t the same running to Le Mans with you man.

Hello Kev, a 914 on these roads would be hilarious, don't know how some if the altitudes would affect the carbs, but for cornering it would be loads of fun. At the moment my 914 has been raised slightly (it's on jack stands

)

Needs some attention, the exhaust tail pipe fell off on the way home when picking my friend up from heathrow

, so now it's mega loud

, it also has a heat exchanger stud missing, and is running like poo, so think I'll be taking it up to my folks in Norfolk and leave it there for a while I decide what to do with it. Either warm Type 4 or 2.2T 6-Cyl. Watch this space.

I'm from down there and those roads are brilliant, even from a non 911 world point of view!! It sure makes for quite an experience.

Tempting Nick, I already have the 2.2T left over from the 3.0 swap in my 911 though, and given the costs of the wedding/honeymoon I'm not sure I could sneak this past the Wife (oh blimey it's started already

). And 914-6 conversion parts alone aren’t exactly inexpensive either even with an engine in wait, so this one may take me a while

if youre gonna put a six in may as well shoehorn a 2.7 or a 3.0 - there was a 3.0 that went for £1500 recently, but as you say its all the other bits as well. Or go Rogers route and squeeze some big pots in - you can get some good power out of a 4 and not have to go mad adding all the other 'bits'.

Mine is running pretty smooth at the mo but i get overtaken by corsas and astra diesel vans on a reg. basis

I keep reminding myself thats not what its all about

I hear you Kev, just not financially viable right now, I looked at hot Type IV's and was surprised at how much dosh you can throw at them. The good thing is that I already know the 2.2 engine and it served me well in my targa, i think the 914 will be nicely balanced with that in there, plus once the work's been done I could alway put my targa back to original and shove the carrera 3.0 in the 914, now that would be

I've learnt to take no notice of Corsa boys and the like when I'm in my 914 mate, they soon become unstuck when they get to a corner
