Amazing, very cool. If one wanted a similar set of shots of their own car what is the likely total cost? PM me if you don't want to go into it here. Cheers Jon

Out of interest Jamie, did you use 'matting spray' on the car? I only ask as the reflections down its flanks looks soft – or is it all down to masks on the studio lighting?

Cool photos... 8)

Arghhh! Deliberately tried to avoid the 'matt paint' look. I hate it. But I can see what you mean - the line down the side of the car needs to be crisper. Could have got an edge with the floating ceiling. Or in retouch. The softness of the line is to do with the way it's hitting the wall.

No matting spray. I think Photoshop killed that stuff - haven't seen it used for years.

Darren's shots actually look crisper - the shapes created by the slightly flared arches helps with that.

...I was actually amazed how matt the cars looked in the studio without any direct light shining on them, different but very cool.

..not that I know however I wouldn't retouch anything....simply stunning images as they! 8)

Worth seeing them side by side to compare......Jamie's simple pure 912 somehow makes mine seem wide and a little fussy!....

Love the way the light catches the lines of the rear arch on the SWB, very cool 8)

Oh, I don't know, they both look ok I guess.

Jamie, I've really enjoyed this build - thanks for being so honest with your highs and lows, it's been a proper journey. Congrats with the fantastic result.

Very nice surprise yesterday - the inimitable sound of something loud and air-cooled, followed by the appearance of this beautiful car outside my house.
It's fabulous in the flesh. A real credit to you, Jamie. And that engine is special.

I even got to have a little drive (thanks, Jamie!). Not sure I've ever driven so slowly. Imagine the horror of bending this car and having to 'fess up on DDK...
Although maybe worth it for the entertainment value of the rebuild thread :)

What's your next project, Mr Lipman?

Cheers, Richard.

Cheers Richard. Lovely to see you. Unfortunately Livvie's housing aspirations (and my garaging aspirations) have escalated somewhat since Sunday evening...

Next project - a thought that's been in my head for a few years, reignited by Moggy's recent Beetle thread - a plastic 356 coupe with electric power.

Alas, I'm currently enjoying the feeling of having nothing to do :)

I think we need to see a rolling road graph of your torque! If you felt very inclined to spend money for our entertainment then Peter Baldwin at http://www.wilshers-garage.com/rolling-road is a master tuner.
