Re: Back in beige
It has been one of the threads of the year. Always looked forward to reading rather than just looking at the pics.
And you have proved yourself
Congratulations to you both. That's great news.

Re: Back in beige
Thanks everyone, for your kind words and support through this terrible ordeal
It was a real pleasure, and at times much-needed therapy, to be able to share the journey with you all on here. The highs and the lows. Looking forward to seeing you all with the car some time.
And congrats to you Will!

Re: Back in beige
Wow, now that's a summary!
It's been a lot of fun getting to know Jamie during his project. Rarely do you meet someone that has such a keen deep interest in just about everything he does and the passion enthusiasm and zest that went into this project is staggering.......I wished I had a quarter of your energy!
Rarely do you meet someone quite so nuts too!......man you have made me laugh!
Thanks for the mention but then we only applied the finishing touch to what was already outstanding preparation.......Rich's words, not mine.
And big thanks for sharing your build, it's been an unmissable read and great fun. The end result is just epic!
As for the next 'project', huge congratulations to you both! - you're starting this journey at about the same age I started a couple of my own. But be warned, although to date these 'projects' have taken about six times as long as the cars, the time has gone in the blink of an eye! Enjoy the ride!
Best wishes to all and with your USA adventure. Family life will suit you, your kids will have a lot of fun!

Great news Jamie, congratulations.
Loved reading about your journey and you always seemed to have a smile when adversity struck.
Wonderful looking car, just a great shame that we moved from EP when we did and I never got sit on a stack of tyres in your garage giving moral support

Re: Back in beige
OK - final set of images.
Managed to get the car into a studio earlier this week.
I'm too tired to write the explanation right now, but in short, the front and rear are single shots, straight off the camera bar some contrast and colour correction, and some little retouches of reflections etc. One lighting setup, one frame, lots and lots of time getting it right. Having tried to write up the highs and lows of the project from start to finish, I decided I didn't want to retouch any faults or blemishes. So what you're seeing is how the car looks - gaps, paint reflections and all.
The engine bay shot is a composite of about five images. It's tricky to get light into the engine bay in the right places, so you end-up stuffing little bits of card in there to get the desired look and then putting each section of the image together afterwards. There's a bit of retouch on the engine bay as it was quite filthy, having ragged the car around a dusty field multiple times the weekend before. I feel I could have done a better job on this shot, but it was getting late and I was running out of time.
Darren came along too. After I had shot my car, we wheeled his one into place and used the same lighting setup to shoot his. It's interesting to see how different they are, despite both being relatively early cars. I'll let him post his images in his build blog!

Jamie I have really enjoyed following this thread, with it's numerous twists and turns, including the battles during low points. I think it's a triumph that you have achieved all this wirthin your 3yr timeline, largely with your own hand. Chapeau! I really hope the car remains reliable, fun and enjoyable from this point on and starts to repay you with new memories.
