All looking very good. Here's another image I found on http://www.alexis-goure.com/. I absolutely love the way this guy takes pictures, really different, the angles and the way he captures the moment is second to none. If you get a chance take 5 mins and scroll through some of the portfolio.

The door bins on the 1974 cars are different to the earlier cars.
Unfortunately they are also different to the later cars.
So I was pleased that I had the original door bins.
Once dusted off they proved to be pretty good but they would need some work.

This car has the correct parts:

All door pockets seem to endure punishment and many cars have examples that are in bad shape. They were only made cheaply and they can suffer from many ailments. They crack in places, they split at the fixings, they dent easily, they warp & bow.

You can buy aftermarket replacements and they are much improved.
Some of those later reproductions are manufactured in fibreglass, some in aluminium.
That results in a much stronger, more stable pocket but the reproductions are the later versions.
They have a pronounced ‘lip’ running around the base and sides that isn’t on the ’74 version.
It’s a simpler lip along the base with the ’74 style bins.
The later door bins were carpeted over.
The ones I required were much simpler in black vinyl all over.

So, I was keen to keep the original ones.
They are made of some sort of fibreboard, and whilst rather fragile it is factory correct.
They are black flocked on the inside.

One of them was superb, it was flat, and un-cracked.
The other was equally as sound on the fixings and brackets but it had a little bow to it and the fibreboard was cracked on the lower edge.
It also had a small dent in it.

I asked Southbound to refurbish the pockets.
They needed to remove the vinyl (from both) and then with careful steaming reshape the warped one.
Dave filled the dent and fibreglassed over the crack to strengthen it and help ensure it kept its shape.
Once you have the correct profile you are then assured a good match against the door and a flush fit when the top lid closes on the bin below.
Southbound then re-flocked the insides and recovered both bins with fresh vinyl.

Paul, did you have to restore the 'valves' inside the fresh air unit attached to the diagonal outside metal rod? If so, any tips? The neoprene type stuff in mind has perished, so looking to replace.

No Richard, mine looked just fine.

But... my usual tip for restoring? Buy new from your OPC.....

Of course, I'm only joking when I say that. I tend to restore original parts where possible...
Here's my original - and now freshly refurbished - fuel filter.

The brakes & suspension are coming back together after refurbishment.
The rears needed new brake mounting plates.

And all the better for them.

My protective plates were rusted through so I've purchased new parts from Porsche.
They are not the best of quality these days but lightweight is good I guess in this instance.

Nowadays they are supplied painted black but back in the day they would have been plated (as the brochure shot below shows).
Nick is stripping the plates and getting them re-plated to replicate the original finish.
