Back from the restoration graveyard of page three, with new hard drive, and a photo bucket account I'm going to try to rebuild this thread.

so here are the current pictures of the car flatted down, pretty much ready for painting now.
Interested to know which paint brands people use, and thoughts on how accurate the colours are to the original. My paint shop guy has send me a colour tester card, having given him the code 6801 - slate grey, however the sample looks a little darker than my 1968 colour samples from a 1968 brochure. At the margin i think i prefer the dark hue, and doubt anyone will park close enough to notice the difference.
So the link above should work, please let me know, I an also interested to know how to post images back to the forum, but could find anything when I searched...
thanks Rich

Rich,
I think you'll have to just edit each post, deleting the original photo link and replacing it with your new one. Tedious I'm sure, but I can't think there'll be another way.

Interested to hear people's thoughts on GRP tinware in the engine bay?
Particularly, would this be considered a legitimate upgrade? I understand this was used for RSR, which my car is not.
But they won't rust, probably a weight saving , commonly available ?

Depends what you mean by legitimate? I think it's a cool mod - but you're going super- original then the concours nazis might have something to say - but it's up to you as to whether you give a toss what they think
Do it!
How much do they cost?

Personally I'd spend the money elsewhere - unless your engine tin is missing or in poor condition & it's a look that you're keen to incorporate... I would think that any weight-saving could be measured in grammes.

What has come off my car is more thinware than tinware, looks like prices range between 200-600 pounds to buy GRP.
getting the engine back in is a reasonable time away, have seen these on eBay occasionally was interested to know if anyone else has bought.
Does anyone know if later metal tinware fits the 2.0, or were there differences through the years?
Thanks Rich

Car is now at a new spary shop, and the project has a new momentum. Couple of weeks of panel beating, re-shaping, and the panels are now straight and we are ready for paint.
Paint will be slate grey as mentioned previously, though I did flirt with Orange....
Only outstanding questions are for the door mirror location, I am fitting the large style durant mirror on the drivers side only. I see that there are indents on my door frames ( they are not period but later side impact doors) where there were holes in the earlier doors. The holes are too close together to secure both the bolts for the large mirror.
Are these holes / markers intended for both bolts of the smaller mirror? Or just the front bolt or rear bolt of the larger mirror?
Thoughts and comments greatly appreciated
