Thanks for encouragement guys
John, I am 21 miles due West of Aberdeen, you are welcome anytime. You helped me and a friend here with transporting window glass for a 69S a year or two back.

That's right, was it Graeme... Your car looks fantastic and what a great colour.
Getting a perfect painted she'll back in the garage is every old kids dream. Enjoy.

Yes, it was Graeme. You should see his Polo Red 1969S - he is post-paint stage now too. Looks fantastic, just like new. Early Porsches are growing in number up here with a 1967S in Aberdeen Porsche Centre too (not for sale).

Not a thing, although I did notice that it's hard up against the back of the showroom. Whether this has anything to do with the fact that I was very rude about a horrible plastic foglamp that'd been inexpertly fitted to the back panel I couldn't say.

Just to add I just read the previous page. Just fantastic to see the original kardex and family pics. St Moritz, with the skis sticking out of the passenger window. Just brilliant..love that hey dey of early Porsche in the UK, when it was the considered, but very left field, choice of motor car.
Yes you absolutely have to re-create that photo in 2017.

After three years away Blue Belle is home!
Complete with front and back bumpers, wings and doors temporarily attached the patient is enticed into the waiting ambulance. Lots of reassurance but soon snuggly tucked in for the 40 mile journey.
Seemed appropriate really, blue towing vehicle with blue trailer (but on a not-very-blue day!)
And back where she was three years ago, but looking very much better.
Does everyone have qualms about getting anywhere near a newly-painted car in case they scratch it...?
So, onto the refit.
Another year? Maybe, we'll see.

Oh I remember that day very well. Got the car home from paint all keen and eager offered up the first part to go back on an instantly scratched the paint!
Once done it settles the nerves and you remind yourself that it can be fixed. Slow and steady wins the race....... Unless you have a deadline!
Looking good Ian
Regards

Great post. Let the battle commence! Have just finished a 1970 Targa shell In similar condition but not quite as bad. Ours took 1500 hour to bring it to paint stage!

Re: 1965 RHD 911 restoration started
Still working away on my car. Slow but steady progress - often three steps forward and two back but I'm learning a lot on the way.
Centre tunnel complete finally. Not the easiest job, especially when I decided not to use the original loom after installation. It went in fine and it may have been OK but some of the extremities needed replacing and I found I had to cut back much further than I expected to find good clean wire where I could solder. I chickened out in the end and bought a new loom from Kroon. The last thing I wanted was a fire when the car was finished!!!
So while I waited for the new loom to come through I got on with sound deadening.
So the new loom arrived and that was installed. No problems so far but it still needs completing. I found out that the rearmost part of the loom goes under the torsion bar on early cars and I had installed it over the torsion bar as per later cars - so out it came again to be repositioned. I reinstalled the original rubber tube that goes between the cross member and the firewall. Amazingly good condition complete with its end caps.
#
It took me some time to sort everything out in the tunnel but finally it was completed. Much swearing, groaning and despairing sighs and I scrambled up and down under the car to get this or that. We've all been there but I think I must be amongst tops for the number of times
The firewall soundpad was also still remarkably good so that was put back.
The engine board installed.
More to come.
