Whilst many of the outer panels were brand new and ecoated, Nick felt that the shell would benefit from a final blasting to thoroughly eradicate any corrosion that could have taken hold on the metalwork while the work was being done.
He felt that the original steel work would be better protected if it was cleaned once more and then primed.
So, areas like the doors, bonnet compartment, bonnet, bulkhead, interior, rear seats & rear shelf, the engine compartment were given a light blasting and then very promptly sealed with an etch primer.

Well, they say painting is all about the preparation.
I didn't know there was so many steps in painting a car.
Etch primer, surfacer primer, primer.
And that's just primers, it's baffling to me....

You would never guess where this shell has been down to and bounced back would we?

This must be the best 74 Carrera that has ever been built - far better than anything that came out of the factory.

Thanks Jason, the paint prep demands many hours work but doesn't make for very exciting pictures.
It's all essential work though.

The 'body-in-white' looks great. Shows the lines off to great effect.
