...wow...scary what lies beneath that otherwise lovely looking exterior....I had a mid 80's Spider 15 or so years ago....it had rusty fragile cills even then.!

Tom this is smooch like the work I had done over what was a sound car that for some reason had been filled with bonds but why is a mystery.
Great to see yours progressing; who is doing the work for you ?
Ian

Jonathan, yes agreed scary once you start digging underneath. There were signs that all was not good underneath, fundamentally everything looks really solid and has cleaned up well once the rot has been cut out.
Ian, its a bit of a strange one why they would rivet metal over poor areas and patch it up. The detail I have on the car was that it was a father and son restoration out in South Africa, probably suited what they were looking to achieve at the time. All getting sorted now. The garage who are doing the work are are a father and son team

not from SA, they are based local to me (handy to check progress) and work on a lot of early and high end cars, a significant number of Porsche cars pass through them. I used them in the past to do some repair work on a 911T I used to have.

More pictures of some of the issues needing addressed.
The car has suffered an impact in the rear at some point, slight bend on the chassis legs at the rear, fortunately its not bad so easily sorted.
General picture of the rear, showing the Alfaholics aluminium t bar. There is literally nothing to the back of this car, very light. I am kind of used to seeing an engine in there.
The one to follow is another classic, bonnet release lever. Looking at the holes the current position is the 3rd place its been sited and even now it wobbles about. A reinforced plate and this mess will be put right.

Thanks Guys, snapped these with my phone while he did a quick trial on the sill guard.
I am now thinking what else can I get polished?
The workshop is in Govan, next door to the metal polished is a chrome and zinc plater and on the corner is the aluminum smelters and then a few other engineering workshops, a bit of a throw back to the Glasgow of old.
I will post some pictures of the work once completed, in terms of cost they are very reasonable, it might well be a useful resource for others. Certainly not the usual Porsche price, I am getting a bit tired of the classic prices or prices quoted for anything to do with Porsche.

Alfa spare parts prices are much more refreshing.

I'd always prefer to restore my own classics and would be very nervous about ever buying something
'finished'.........but I would buy one of yours Tom
Thanks for sharing.

Darren, thanks, really enjoying this car. The work is moving on at a pace, I think I have gotten used to waiting with the E, it's quite refreshing with the speed of the work on the Alfa.
I picked up the scuff guards and Cam Cover today, delighted with the way these have turned out.
These are the jewels from the dash, took them out to clean. There are some lovely details on the car despite it being very basic.
This wont be getting used but needed a clean.
