So, after 21 months of allowing the paintwork to 'cure', the day finally came when it was time to say goodbye to Richards' shell......

....such a beautiful car, I'm going to miss it! :? .....

I was just recommending this thread to someone who owns a 72T/E as inspiration and it's all but disappeared!

What a great shame! :(

Hi Darren,

Yes, it's a pain in the ar5e...early pictures on the restoration thread were hosted by photobucket later ones by imageshack (who have now moved to a pay service). I haven't had time to check if I start paying for the service whether it will reinstate previously hosted pictures or not and not even sure I want to pay to host pictures when this can be done for free. If imageshack can't reinstate the pictures I will try to reload with photobucket.

Hopefully will have time to attend to this over Christmas!

Here you go Gary....

…I think this shell is the most delicious I've ever seen …although fairly rotten at the start, it was pure, straight, untouched and unmolested, Barry commented that a welder had never been near it….sure does look pretty now. Richard Huckle is one lucky guy, you can catch his restoration thread here… viewtopic.php?f=28&t=40656

I'm currently looking after Richard's shell which puts me in the unique position of having three early 911's to feast my eyes upon….one fully restored, a painted shell and a car in bare metal…..early 911 Heaven!

That's my paint fix for today taken care of, hopefully I'll be able to report back soon when the Mongrel doesn’t look quite so naked!

Cheers,
Hope that's OK Richard :)

Hi Richard, Id just like to say thankyou for sharing this resto in such detail. Its gonna prove invaluable on my recent aquisition. The fab work that has been achieved is truly awe inspiring. You car could be a carbon copy of mine in terms of rust.(well was) Just beautiful to look at now. Stunning and a great thread.

Cheers

Went to drop off some parts with Gary at GDC Automotive yesterday and see progress on my car. Very chuffed with the quality of work (which unfortunately probably does not come across in the phone pictures below). Hopefully I should be out and about in this once the nasty salt is off the roads!
