Names? I'd go with 'Dodger'
Because of the jammy gits who found it!
Only joking. Couldn't happen to a nicer couple

At this juncture I should like to apologise for not answering any of your questions, commenting on any of your thinking or giving hints to who was right or wrong, close to the truth or miles away.
Telling the story should reveal everything so we have just concentrated on that.
Suffice to say that the expert minds of DDK have wriggled and wiggled most of the correct details along the way from the details we have posted. It just goes to show how well you all know these cars. Very impressed!
Our next challenge was to get stuck into the research of this car. Most of you will have done this at some point with your own cars and it is one of the most enjoyable parts. It has been for us. We poured over what we already knew and made a checklist of who and where to contact next.
I examined the photos over and over again.
A few weeks (!) later I was scanning the photos yet again and noticed something different in these two photos taken about 12 miles apart on our journey home. Spot anything?

You'd lost the rear indicator lens?
And some of the rust?

B*gger, somewhere on a Scottish country lane lies a small smear of red and amber glass.
Mike.

It was actual six weeks after the event that we realised that the rear o/s light assembly was AWOL. Leslie suggested that one weekend we get on our bikes and travel the route with the hope that we might actual find it. Long shot but worth a try.
Then I had to go on business to sunny Hull and decided that going into deepest darkest southern Scotland would only add about 1.5 - 2 hours onto my journey so I decide to leave a bit earlier and travel the route...

Good job it was a quiet road but to lay there for six weeks! But wait, what's that next to it?

OMG! It's never Steve McQueen's press pass for Le Mans in 1970, is it?
